Go to Toys r Us and get price beat to get to even lower price $499.99 *0.9(10% price beat) = $450 + $50 cash back = $400

    • That's an insane price if you can get it, we got ours for $449 price matched in December

      • Why not? Just go to Baby r us ans got it price match, if no stock can rain check it.

Or spend $50 more to get it from baby bunting(price match)

        • we bought this in april, still in the box. do you know if we can return it to toys r us and re-price match baby kindom? or if they will agree to refund the difference? i m not familiar with toys r us' return policy.

        • @alwayseric:

          here you go http://www.toysrus.com.au/returns-policy/w1/i1179715/

I said you can, but re buying it will depend if the store have stock, you can not re purchase your just returned one.

I think they could also do price match for you but you can not enjoy the $50 cash back.

The best is refund and purchase again

        • @LoveBargain15: thanks for that. it doesnt mention in the policy within how many days the item can be returned for "change of mind", or i just miss something?

    • My inner bargainer is groaning of why I didn't think of this. Although I just looked up their policy - they could probably find lots of reasons not to price match at $499 and give 10% discount.

*Price Match available in store only. Competitor's product must be in stock at a retail outlet within the same city or town. Product must be identical (e.g. same brand, model and colour). Competitor's advertised price must be current. Price match not available when the competitor's lower price is due to category or storewide discounts, conditional sales, package deals, trade-ins, damaged stock, demonstration or discontinued lines and loyalty or third party offers. We will not match online retailers, fire or liquidation sales, clearance and warehouse outlets.

      • why not give it a go? I have no difficulty to get price beat, although one time I am being told that they will not beat when the item is on special in other store, I questioned this is the whole purpose to do this to match/beat with their special price.

You can ask for manager to show and explain why it is not being match/beat and they will just give it to you as that is nothing saying you are not getting price mach/beat.

My Kingdom and babies r us are both located in Bankstown.

        • +1

asked - at least in Parramatta Babies R Us they won't cause the item is temporarily unavailable. Didn't bother asking another staff. I like the way you think though! =D

        • @kawinuyo: Just about to go there to ask, thanks for posting and save me time :)

  • We've got one of these and baby loves it - we had it in the car for the whole summer too and can vouch for the Thermo fabric being much better in hot conditions than the material that Britax used to use on their car seats (the 2012 Platinum model specifically).

  • You also get a free britax seat mirror from baby kingdom

or FREE OSG Athena Swing valued at $249.95 from

https://www.bubs.com.au/_products/Car+Safety/Convertible+Car… but the price is $599

    • Does any one have that OSG Swing? I can't find any review or their official site for info…

Is there any practical reason why ISOFIX seats should cost twice as much as others or are they just profiteering?

    • Because they are newer.

    • +3

it may be safer as its harder to get it wrong when installing whereas the seatbelt method has more probability of being installed incorrectly.
      isofix is easier to install

    • My understanding was that ISOFIX is very hard to install incorrectly which is great if you need to move the seat between cars or someting plus in a side collision crash testing shows that there is less movement.

      • I understand the benefit and I understand that you are willing to pay extra for that benefit. I am asking about any practical justification from a manufacture-cost point of view, as it seems they are charging twice as much simply because they can.

        • ahh I getcha, in that case… I don't think anyone here would know how much it costs the manufacturers to give a proper answer. Although I did get told that the Britax are still made in Melbourne (at least the one we're buying) and they get tested at every stage of the production so it makes it easier to find where it's going wrong (apparently most other places do the whole seat then test and it makes it hard to pinpoint which part is the fault?).. so perhaps the cost is in the testing and not the material costs etc.

        • @kawinuyo:

Britax have recently announced they're closing their Melbourne factory down and all their seats will be made overseas

        • Pretty much because they can

There's additional cost, but no where remotely near what they premium they're asking

  • Can't recommend this design more. We've still got the old European design from several years ago (youngest about to grow out of it) and I'm really impressed than an Aus chair is now coming with Isofix as standard. Interesting that it's fixed with straps - ours is solid metal Isofix base.

    • +1

I found those with rigid Isofix connectors fit much better compared to those with straps Isofix. The child seat locks into the car frame with no moveable part and just sits rock solid.

  • I bought one of these a couple of months ago from Baby Bunting, at the time I was able to locate another online store selling them for $449 so BB were happy to price match, plus I got another 1.99% discount ($10.15) for being a loyalty member on top of that.

It's a good seat but it's not small.

  • Whats ISOFIX and is it only compatible with certain vehicles?

    • most cars post 2000 has isofix. its a simpler system to attach baby seats but if your car doesn't have the isofix system then you just use the seat belt

    • It's two little buckles attached to the car seat on either side. The buckles clip onto a metal bar that runs along the bottom of the car seat and is attached to car frame. Once attached, the seat seems very secure and doesn't move around as much.

I never knew it was there until we had our baby last year.

Look at the product review, most customers has problem on installation and short back install bells? It may need professional installation, $20. Need purchase extend bells. Probably need purchase anti scratch mat? Extend bell $25-$35. Anti scratch mat $90-$100.

Compare to its competitor, no need professional installation, no need extend belt , free anti scratch mat, live time warranty.

    • +1

I installed this all by myself easily. It also came with a full seat scratch mat with pockets at legs room.

      • put it this way, some people are just "less intelligent" ;p

  • Recently went shopping for our third baby seat. Was prett surprised to find that cheaper models from the department stores generally have the highest safety ratings. Price is zero reflection on safety.

    Check out.

    • +1

Thanks! Now I wish I had bought a few days later! snaps fingers at least I got most of my baby shopping done already I guess… I've updated the post with a note at the top ^^

  • Woohoo, just managed to get Babies R Us to price beat the baby bunting price of $479, so walked out paying $430. Now to claim the $50 rebate. Feeling rather pleased with myself. Thanks @kawinuyo for the original post!

    • +1

that's amazing! So happy for you

    • +1

      Same :)

    • Just spoke to my local babies R Us and they have set one aside for me to pick up tonight. Thanks OP

  • Hi all, so the cashback works for everyone? Not just pb&c Sydney visitors?

    • hey,

I guess the claim form has changed from the original post and looks like it will only work for PB&c now

      • Yeah, I just had a look. It seems they have updated the banner. However on the form itself it doesn't have a section to ticket that you check to say you went, unless they have access to all the people who registered to go.

        • yup, but possibly they can figure it out from the uploaded scan of the receipt.

Hopefully they acknowledge the older claims

        • @vcdeal: I went to the PB&C which is where I got the info from, but it didn't say on the card they handed out you had to buy the seat from the expo….so not sure how they'd check. But good luck to all!
