ok
I think it had a good run, ~18months (started production October 2014) for a tablet is quite a long time in flagship status. iPads are replaced yearly and at least has the app-eco system to go with it, android's still a little lacking in the quality of tablet apps though its come a long way since android 2.2 days.
:P I kinda have no opinions on it. I just saw a news that was saying, Google is pulling Nexus 9 off its Google Store but other vendors still sell them (hence why I said I think Nexus Player is discontinued, because other vendors might still stock them) and HTC is now finally pulling the plug on the production, pulling it off from the shelf all together.
As with whether it had a good run, I think Nexus 7 2013 was the best Nexus tablet device. 4:3 has limitations that I cannot stand (I prefer 3:2, 1:414 or 16:10 on tablet despite their limitations) and I did hear complaints on Nexus 9 far more.
Don't understand why we are talking about iPad. They do release new models, but that's different from stopping the production line.
Does it matter if you've already bought them?
Nexus 9 will have updates for at least a year.
If you want more updates, there's always Cyanogen Mod.
i know about that cyanogen mod i was thinking about install cyanogen mod 13
Yes
They will be discontinued.
As will the iPhone 6s, eventually
I wonder if this will affect second hand market prices
Both of them are pulled down from Google store. HTC did confirm that they've stopped producing Nexus 9 altogether (http://www.cnet.com/news/say-goodbye-to-the-nexus-9/). I think Nexus Player is also discontinued (http://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2016/5/24/11762276/go…).
