  • I have a small thing on ebay going at the moment,
heard a few people i know doing uber though

    • +2

Considered uber but was put off by the extra licensing, insurance etc that I'd need to spend. Plus due to standard work hours the only time I'd get decent passengers would be the drinkers on weekends.

  • I make small dollars online through my website. Need more motivation.

    • Yeah, been meaning to make something for ages. Lots of ideas, but motivation is the hardest part.

      • +1

Specially after a long week at work, Last thing you want to do is more work. I enjoy what I do online just tired.
If you have motivation it's so easy to earn money online though.

  • Surveys and offerwalls at RewardingWays. Its not much, but I usually make about 3 USD$ a day on there. The cashout minimum is only $1 and you get that in your PayPal account quickly. I just do them in my spare time. You also get 20c to start with if you sign up through my REF link.

Same as shapers said. Sell on eBay. (1)Find a niche product that will sell. (2)Source cheaply from China.(3) profit.

I buy my product (I only sell 1 thing) for $1.30. Sell for $20. Make ~$15 profit after fees.

The product fits in a regular envelope so just $1 postage. And that is simple to manage. Take me about 3 minutes to pack and address envelop. Some brief exercise walking to the postbox.

That's great. Every product I thought might sell well already has more than one seller who all seem to barely make a profit after fees etc. Really needs to be one of those product which you can buy cheap, sell for at least double and fit in a envelope because postage is killer here. Still haven't found one myself though.

Yeah. I only sell products which fit into a $1 postage envelope. When I was selling seriously (100+ sales a month) I was making some decent pocket money. I only choose products that I'll make at least $5 net profit. Which doesn't sound much but it was just a hobby that took 15 minutes a night in front of the TV. And it adds up. It's beer money or pays for something i want.

Yes. Find the product. Find the supplier.

        • Find the supplier.

Can you give some hints?- aliexpress? kogan?

          @red-hot:one of those is right.

        • +1

@red-hot: Just change the suffix on one of them.

        • How does GST and tax work for online sales like that? Do you have to declare the income? Are you like a sole trader?

        • @maxi: it's below the threshold for reporting.

        • +1

          @altomic:
Below reporting for GST, yes if under $75,000 I think.
What about as declarable income for taxation? There is a section on the tax return that asks about income selling goods on internet.

        • @maxi: hmm, have to ask my tax accountant about that.

do you know what the amount for minimum amount for income selling goods on internet?

        • @altomic:
I would think you have to declare all income and then deduct all expenses (invoices from suppliers).
That way your actual profit will go on top of you other income if you have any.
When they start GST on all stuff bought online from overseas you will have to pay GST on the products you buy but if you are not registered for GST and do not charge it in your sales then you cannot get a input GST refund.

Find out what altomic sells.. Sell if for 1$ cheaper on ebay :)

        • good luck with that :)

        • @altomic:
What category is the item you sell for profit, I'm guessing electrical?

    • Good suggestion, thanks! Now I know where all the 'AU' sellers for seemingly identical products from China/HK are from ;)

I for one am usually happy to pay for the quicker local postage.

In the very short term, there is (was) plenty of work as polling officials in the upcoming election. Check out the AEC website > Employment. I got offered $400 for the day, but of course let's see how the day goes, it's a long day 7am start, 6pm start processing votes.

    • +1

Great suggestion! I was a vote counter a few years ago. For a few hours at night the pay was pretty decent.

    • I keep meaning to do this. Thanks for the reminder. Although 11-12 hours for 400 is pretty harsh.

      • +1

Not to put you off, but I have read that in very popular booths knock off might be midnight! That is pretty extreme though - alot of traffic plus very close seat (Benelong Howard vs Macune). Try to pick a spot that isn't too busy, sausage sizzle optional.

The 2016 Census is coming, there are 38,000+ vacancies for after work and weekends.

I applied for this ages ago, but thought I lucked out as they said they wanted to fill positions by March/April. I guess they will fill in the foot soldiers in July.

  • Not a real job, but I'm signed up to a load of market research companies. I go through phases but i probably take home 1000 a year. They're usually 1-2 hour sessions for $80-150 after work.

Pretty sweet deal considering i just make it my non gym day and go straight from work. Plus some topics are really interesting
