Mcdonald's Pop up Store - Free French Fries, May 27 - May 29 [Glebe NSW]

200

A MCDONALD’S pop-up restaurant serving free fries will open tomorrow for just three days in Sydney’s inner west.

The world-first fries-only store, called Fries With That, will open from Friday until Sunday in Glebe.

Last year, McDonald’s launched Loaded Fries (fries topped with gravy, or guacamole and salsa, or bacon and cheese) and Fries With That is a testing ground for potential new toppings.

Located at 166 Glebe Point Road, Glebe

Interestingly there is already a campaign against the temporary store.

Nice! But wait for the negative votes for the NIMBY people

    • Because you just can't have enough McDonald's stores, so now let's have popup-stores…..

      • +1

Well that is the only thing open late at night these days. Everything else is just shut or not allowed to be opened.

        • +2

Hope their campaign is just as successful as the No McDonalds in Tecoma campaign…. lololololol

    • Linked the Facebook campaign to the Original post already for those that were wanting to join the boycott.

    • They are right, Glebe is a foodies area with a lot of small resturaunts, Maccas doesn't belong there, it will indeed ruin the kitchy vibe. Why don't they just open up in Broadway Shopping Centre?

      • -1

Because McDonalds Broadway already exists. On harris street x broadway

        • Thats Ultimo silly. Oh yeah Broadway has Harris St too, then there is no need for another 2 blocks away.

        • -1

@nikkirose: I dunno I just googled McDonalds Broadway in google maps and that one showed up. So I dont know why I am silly.

          Link: https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/McDonald's+Broadway/@-3…

        • @Turd: Sydney has a bad habit of recycling street names, I had no idea Broadway had a Harris St too. I go for a 15 minute walk and pass 3 Cooper Streets, I feel sorry for the postie.

        • +1

@nikkirose: hahaha nah dont feel sorry, they often just "Sorry we missed you.." Slip. But even worse most days they dont even bother giving you that slip, you just get tracking from retailer and track it yourself, and pick it up at the post office.

        • @Turd: My parcel slips come in the mail, I watch the tracking, pick up a depot, 15 mins later drop off at post office, they don't even attempt to deliver. Then trying to get the parcels when you don't have a tracking number shudders

        • @nikkirose: hahaha I know how that feels. The post office people know me at least now so they be like oh you again….

      • If they are right then a McDonalds would fail to get enough customers, and shut down. I cant stand McDonalds, but one shop isn't going to change a "vibe".

  • I liced in Glebe over 10 years ago, there was always a campaign against a McDonalds at Glebe. It would mess the suburb up with the Yellow and Red logo.

Ah, the lice outbreak of 2006…

      • I remember that too!

      • I lived in Glebe, dont know how the lice got there.

Cos personal hygene there is an afterthought:P

        • +2

@abc: lice are hipster food in some countries

  • If I look for French Fires, this deal will appear!

    • +2

look for the smoke and the fire should appear

  • yes, free fries loaded with saturated fat and salt to make the population fatter and fatter. :)

    • Im sure other places use the same. In-N-Out Burger popup or other resturants. Do you really know what they use?

    • MacDonalds Australia use canola oil to cook their chips, still fatty but not very saturated.

We kicked maccas out of lane cove (NSW).

    • No wonder it is dead there on most nights.

    • oh wow thats nice great job

      Cronulla too…

"Pop Up store" has to be the most overused and overrated term this decade.

    • +1

I can imagine a "Pop up" oZbargain festival.

I saw a pop-up Salvos on Elizabeth the other day, this is when I knew the pop-up store fad had gone too far.

  • For me inner west = west of Sydney University. Wonder if there is a formal definition as I don't think of Glebe as 'inner west' (even if wikipedia thinks it is). Hope there is a McDonalds put up there permanently to piss off the local anti-maccas greenie folks with superiority complexes. I don't even like the loaded fries but will patron the pop up store as a show of solidarity to the Big M. Only really need to worry about anti-social behaviour/pollution if it is 24 hr with lazy staff. Most stores are clean and relatively quiet. McDonalds stores also employ Australians paying legal wages (cough 7/11) so all power to them.
