Hi fellow ozbargainers,
I have been riding an electric bike to commute from my house to the train station. I normally park it in the Parkiteer cage but due to a construction project the cage will be removed for 18 months. I am considering taking out my very first bike insurance but running into a lot of questions.
To summarise here are what I know so far:
- Most bike insurance providers cover my bike because it's pedal assisted with a 240w motor
- None of the providers however lists my bike model (probably because it's a Chinese brand). Either can I find the serial number of the bike
- My bike is worth about $1500 and Wiggle is the cheapest so far at $100/pa + $250 damage/$350 theft excess
- NRMA has a cheaper excess at $200 but by the look of it they don't offer anything in VIC. Their premium is higher at $160/pa.
It doesn't seem like I have a lot of choices here and the missing model/serial is definitely not helping. Just wondering if anyone with similar experience can shed some light.
TIA.
