I am in Brisbane. I use the Woolworths Fuel app. Gives me all the Woolworths/Caltex fuel prices around me. I couldn't find anything for Shell. There are some apps that claims that they do all brands, but they rely on other users to put the prices in.
As a side note, I also have the 7eleven fuel app, it lets me lock in the price for 7 days of the lowest petrol station price around me, and pay that price at my local petrol station. Useful, as I lock in the price just before the petrol price goes up. Lets me stretch the low price out for another week. :)
That sounds great.
Do you have to show the app or barcode while paying ?
Yes, you need to put in some money into the app, then it lets you lock in the amount of fuel by the amount you put it. After you lock it in, the app gives you a barcode, which expires in 7 days or if you use it, whichever is sooner. If it expires, you don't lose your money, it just goes back into your balance. It is a bit of a guess when the fuel price might go up, I usually just check the Woolworths fuel app, if some petrol stations are starting to put up their prices, it is a good indication the fuel price will jump within the next day or so.
What's your luck with winning on this?
I installed it but since i still have 5% Cashback on citibank and That's usually my buffer for petrol between the few cheapest days (only emergencies would see me putting in 10 bux on higher days).
@CheapskateQueen: I would say pretty good. Stretches out cheap petrol for another week(I fill up once a week). I guess I do check the Woolworths fuel app almost daily, more than once a day during low cycle, to see if any petrol station has increased their fuel price. Once that happens, I would go fill up my car at my local petrol station which is normally slow at updating their pricing and then lock in the price with the 7eleven app. The following week, I would use the app voucher at my local 7eleven. Last week I saved about $10. My lock in price was $1.02 and the pump price was $1.25.
I do the same, I monitor Gas Buddy and petrol station prices as I drive and if I see the price rise anywhere I'll lock in a price through 7Eleven.
I'd then wait as late as I can to claim it so I can get the most volume in to the tank at that price so I can last longer until the next dip in prices and begin the cycle again.
Given that the price cycle in Melbourne has stretched out to 2-3 weeks it's definitely helpful to have a 7 day price lock with 7Eleven.
@unco: GasBuddy and other fuel apps rely on their users. I have tried some of them. My area doesn't seem to have good coverage, as not many active users in my area. I trust the Woolworths Fuel app more as I think it gets updated every few minutes from the source. In Brisbane, the price cycle is about 3 weeks. This is now the second week and fuel price is still on its way down.
@geek001: yeah I guess I'm lucky with Gas Buddy, I think most of the servos in my area are updated by the actual attendants each morning.
The longest I see any nearby without update is usually 17 hours or so.
@geek001: thanks for the feedback. I'll have to give it a go. I train to work now so petrol isn't as important anymore but that also means I'm relaxing of my due diligence. Lol
I use Price Spy
Did you mean PetrolSpy?

Does anyone have any recommendations for an app that can compare the price of fuel at all surrounding fuel stations?
I'm trying to find something similar to the 7-11 fuel app that works with all fuel stations.
Cheers!
For NSW there's the Fuel Check site and app.
The NRMA Motoring app can check sorrounding area's fuel prices. Don't think you've got to be a member to use it.
