Hey, I am travelling overseas to Tokyo in 3 days, does anyone know where's the most cheapest place in exchanging my AUD currency to Yen?
I will most likely be taking around 2000 AUD with me. Thanks.
Cheapest Exchange Rate from AUD to YEN?

Yeah I really have left it too late, I just heard from a friend about Citibank, ill probably ask if they can still open the account and give me a number so I can access it from a Tokyo branch but that might be risky as I might not be approved lol.
Are you in Melbourne? Ever Forex in Collins St does spot rate exchanges, but you need to call up to check if they have Yen in.
Sydney unfortunately lol.
CBA chat told me
All of our cards have a 3% conversion fee for non AUD transactions. So a transaction value of $100AUD will have a conversion fee of $3AUD for example. Also overseas ATM access will be liable for a $5AUD fee. and its giving me 1 Aud to 86 Yen. So It seems still expensive sigh. There also a Travel money card. I'll be going to my branch tomorrow and check if that's any better.
Citibank account will take at least 2 weeks to create.
kvb kunlun or west union (wynyard)
were the goto places in sydneyhavent had to exchange in a while so dont know if they still competitive
as mentioned before you need to call in advanceI recently exchanged AUD to SGD, and Hai Ha in Cabra was the best http://hhmt.com.au/foreignexchange/. It doesn't show Yen on their website so it might be worth a call?
click on" foreign sell rate"
JAPAN YEN JPY 76.4325it's pretty good..never exchange money in Japan!
terrible rates..
I'll call the Cabramatta one, I'm in western Sydney so there all pretty far :P
If you weren't going in 3 days, I'd say open a Citibank account and get it out at the airport in Tokyo. But 3 days is leaving it a bit late for opening a bank account.
So the best price is probably putting it in your Aus bank account and taking it out with a visa/mc debit card at the Tokyo airport.
Cash exchange rates are terrible.
