I'm a professional photographer. I work in news. 100%of my income comes from me taking photos.

I've found the information in these types of ebooks to be hugely basic. Don't expect to take professional photos, but expect to understand BASIC principals of light and camera operation.
Everything in these books can be found for free with a simple google search. Owning ebooks like this will not give you an advantage over someone who doesn't.

I'd suggest enrolling in a Tafe short course or similar. Much better for learning and developing(pun intended) your knowledge.

At the end of the day, if you don't have an eye for composition and a good handle on technique, your photos will look average.

      Cool story, thanks

    • Much better for learning and developing(pun intended) your knowledge.

But will the knowledge be fixed in your brain in the next wash? Not so cut and dry. :)

    • Any ebooks or udemy course that you recommend?

I know my local tafe offers short courses.
Small classes, good lecturers and they can show you hands on how everything works and interacts. Physically seeing how aperture/iso/shutter speed affects an image, and understanding the science behind it is hugely important in mastering the art.
In a world where everyone has a camera, if you're truly intent on bettering your understanding and skill, physically being taught and shown will soak in more than reading about basics over and over again.

Ebooks have a place. But eventually you'll get to a point where you're reading the same thing again and again.

        So my recommendation-
        Short courses. Tafe or similar.
I was trained at tafe. They know their stuff.
Local camera clubs- there are plenty around, often with talented members. Go on a photo walk. Pick their brains. Most people are more than happy to help.
Simply USE your camera- no point reading every book ever printed if you don't get out on your weekend, to the local footy, or on a bushwalk, and TAKE PHOTOS.

Consume as many photos as you can, from magazines to online blogs, and take pieces you like and incorporate them into your pictures. Eventually you'll have your own style and will love taking photos.
        Good luck
