Deadpool Blu Ray $24.98 @ JB-Hi-Fi in Store Only/ Big W 30% off $17.50

700

Was in JB earlier today and saw they had a bunch of Deadpool displays set up. Asked the cashier and she said Woolworths had broke the release embargo, so they are free to sell it now. Only available in store though.

Edit: Big W have it for $25 with the 30% off still active, bringing it down to $17.50

  • Is this discounted price or just regular price?

    • +1

To be completely honest, I'm not entirely sure. I just remember there being posts when The Force Awakens embargo was broken, hence me posting this. If not considered a deal, mods can remove.

      • OK, I'm just asking. Cheers.

  • +1

Big W had full price yesterday with 30% off BluRays which came down to $26.60 Didn't think it was released until 25th but as you stated WW released early.

    • +3

Thanks am currently in Big W and it's actually $17.50! Back to JB to return that copy then :P

      • I was in my local in Brissie (Taigum) Saturday and asked if they had it yet and they we strict on the 25th as a release date. My wife will pop by today and see if she can get it early.

      • I went back Sunday and it was down to $25 and it didn't reduce with 30% off. Could have argued it but didn't.

What they should have done was decide a final selling price to be competitive and set their full price to accommodate the 30% off. But then they are known for their release week price of $25 for BluRays.

  • Not sure whether this specifies as a deal, that said, thank you OP. My gf loved the movie, so I bet she'd be thrilled to hear about this :P

    • +2

Not sure whether this specifies as a deal

      What?

      • As in, I am not sure whether this post actually has any bargains. If it is just at RRP, then it's not really a deal, is it?

        • Pretty sure it's the cheapest copy of Deadpool you can find right now.

My question is - Is it that price today, tomorrow - Do I need to leave right now ?

          I'm talking about the $17.50

    • How can you say you dont think this is deal? 30% off dvds by itself is considered a deal.

      • +1

When I wrote the comment, the post was simply about JB HiFi and how JB HiFi was selling Deadpool bluray.

        • Apologies. Only saw the current title

        • +1

@Regie69: Eh, no worries (also, oh god, I sounded so defensive there, I really didn't mean to). I simply wanted to thank the OP for sharing the news about Deadpool bluray being available earlier.

Big W website is total and complete SHIT.

Deadpool shows as '$38.00' , their facebook site shows $25.00 followed by a huge amount of angry customers who were charged $38. I cannot find any mention of he 30% off at all. Can you post a link to that.

    • I can't edit my post again :/ How can I post a picture of the receipt to the comments?
Edit: Big W would probably be in store only too I imagine

    • +3

Big W's 'entertainment' section online is fulfilled by a different company on consignment, not by Big W.
      https://www.bigw.com.au/partners/Movies%20and%20Games%20Plus
This has come up several times before, its often why there is variations in price between instore, online and even catalogues sometimes.

  • -8

I would also like to add that Big W staff is also COMPLETE SHIT - called my local store and they have transferred my 4 times to tech department. Someone answers and then I go back to the reception again.

    • +1

It's most likely the handset they have at their store, unless it was the same person each time, just say you don't want to be transferred because the line hangs up

  • -5

Finally Got through and BIG W staff told me it's $26.50 with the 30% off. If you got it for $17.50 then it must be a mistake. Does not surprise me Big W are Epically incompetent.

  • Receipt changed in post. Note that it doesn't specifically say Deadpool because it apparently doesn't scan due to it currently being sold before release.

    • Which Big W are you in ?

Never mind - I just realised you can click on someones profile - I'm in NSW.

      Your comment isn't great either.

Don't waste your time reading it.

        • +1

Agreed. You could have spent at least some of the $11 getting someone to explain the concept of 'humour' to you! ;)

    • +4

I'm inclined to agree, but Ryan Reynolds is a dream boat ⛵️

  • Does anyone know if the 4K bluray version (the one that also comes with bluray and a download) comes with a 4K download? Or is the download just standard hd/full hd?

    • +1

      Full hd

      • Thanks

        That sucks though
Was really hoping it'd have a 4K download, cos I've got a UHD monitor, but those 4K players are terribly overpriced atm

  • +3

    How was the Mint Twirl?

    • +2

      Haha pretty good actually! :)

  • I paid $23.80 so not sure what's going on with Big W lol.

    • +7

For those that want the best quality you can get, BD is it.

      • -6

        Netflix 4K cough cough

        • +13

Deadpool isn't on netflix cough cough.

        • +9

BD audio is also lossless, something none of the streaming services can offer.

        • +2

Is that going to stream DTS-HD Master Audio? Cough cough

      • +2

Besides the 4k Ultra Hd disc you mean.

        • +1

And the 4K deadpool disc also comes with standard bluray, as well as ultraviolet (which is a code for you to download it online)

      • There's always one that comes in with the stone-age comment on any bluray deal. They know they're unpopular and they just go ahead anyway.

  • How long is the 30% off blu-rays on for?

    • June 2nd iirc

  • Just got back from my local Big W (Warnbro, WA) - it scans at $25.50.

    • Does that include 30% off?

  • Big W it scanned up at $25 and was also ticketed at $25. Other Blu-Ray scanned up at 30% off the marked price so you would have had to argue your case for Deadpool. If you did get 30% off the Blu, at $17.50 it would be cheaper than the DVD.

    • I did indeed get it for $17.50 as evidenced by the receipt. They had a while display setup for the Blu Ray ticketed at $25, multiple staff members said that the 30% off was to come off of that price taking it down to $17.50, cashier put it through without hesitation whatsoever.

      • Good one, it may just be that it wasn't supposed to be available yet, but other titles definitely scanned up with the reduced price whereas Deadpool didn't. I was at the shops for another reason, though if I hadn't seen it (and loved it) at the cinemas I would have bought it and pushed the case on the 30% if necessary.

    • Also, I should let it be known that on their price check things around the store it scanned at $25. But I was told it wouldn't scan on their actual POS systems, and it didn't. So they manually put it through, hence the weird thing on the receipt, with the 30% off of the $25

  • +1

Does anyone have a link to the 30% off DVD & Blu-ray offer?

Just wanted to know if it's still on and applicable in all states.

$17.50 is an amazing price. Big W's Facebook page has it advertised for $25, but I don't think anyone's been able to get it for $25 let alone $17.50.

    • +1

The sign I saw today said ends 02/06/2016. The Blu Ray scanned at $25 at the price checkers but didn't scan at the checkouts. They had to put in a manual code which came up at $25. Tried to convince them there should be 30% off that too. The service desk made a phone call and came back and said it is $25 so I left it. Yesterday at another store it came up as $36 even though the sign at the front said $25. Gave up at that store too. You wont have any issues getting it for $25 but you probably will for $17.50. Good luck.

      • +1

Worked for me but had to explain my point. Which was the ticketed price was $25 so 30% Blu-Ray special = $17.50, as a consumer there is the primary advertised offer of the 30% off all Blu-Rays and there are no restrictions…

It was confusing anyway, the original price and the listed advertised special for $25 did not even equate to 30% off.

I also experienced no scan at check out which must be a system block for the release embargo, but the team member keyed it in manually :)

      • Just checking if anybody knows if online is 30% still too (not for Deadpool, just blurays in general)? There is nothing on the website to indicate this, and the prices seem pretty average…

        • +1

No, it doesn't apply online. The Blurays sold on the Big W website aren't sold by Big W but by Movies and Games Plus.

        • Thanks bud

  • -6

No deal, it is free at Putlocker

  • If that 30% off doesn't work, Target has it for $19.99 (Blu-Ray/DVD + Digital). Looks like the regular price is $22.99
    http://www.target.com/p/deadpool-blu-ray-dvd-digital/-/A-507…

    • +7

      That's the American Target…

      • +1

        Thanks, didn't realise that. :(

  • for those that still have the $10 gift card from the washing machine error can get it for $14.98.

  • Called in there today only to find no Deadpool Blurays anywhere in the store.

And in keeping with Big W stupidity they have 50% off some Disney Infinity characters (4 to be exact) and they scan at $17 - Thats their definition of half price ?????

    • My local had them at the entrance only. They weren't in the entertainment section.

  • Tried my luck at BigW Highpoint, went to front counter first and they referred me to the Entertainment Section who said I could either have it at 30% of $38 or $25 :(

  • Just bought deadpool at bigw and they said $25.00 price is including the 30% off as orginally $38.00. So we got for $25.00. So still good price i think.

    • +1

see the thing with that is .. 30% of $38 = $26.60 .. so you can argue that $25 is not actually 30% off $38 ..

then argue the $25.00 is the ticketed price.. lol then try get 30% off that

  • Perhaps this post should be revised as I think this was just luck.

  • It appears that I got incredibly lucky to get it for this price, not alot of luck from others getting the same price. Mods can remove if they feel it necessary.

    • its all good.. you did well for that price! haha

I just walked into the Melbourne CBD store.
Took the Bluray to the counter and the self-service teller showed it as $25.
Spoke to the manage on duty. She said the price ($25) already had the 30% taken off. She admitted it was a issue a few customers had raised.
She called her manager but he said $25 was the price they could sell it at.
I said I was not happy and that legally Big W has to give me 30% of the listed shelf price.
    So she did.
    Got it for $17.50.
Also got The Force Awakens for $15.58!
I believe they are going to amend their signs now.

  • +1

Just managed to pick it up from Big W for $17.50.

As other people have mentioned I brought up the fact that 30% off $38 is $26.60 so the discount has not been applied and was able to get the 30% off the $25 bringing it down to $17.50.

Receipt picture for anyone else to get the deal. http://imgur.com/z8yZMQT

  • Forget deadpool the real bargain is the cadbury mint twirl is the real bargain

  • I managed to pick one up in Big W in Livingston (Canning Vale WA) for $17.50. Although there was a 'discussion' about if I was going to have it at that price as the '30% off signs should have been taken down already' and there was one left which I found after looking and googling if the offer was still on.
