I'm comparing to what I usually spend on shaving gear…
Of course, it's like cars. Different price ranges and different performance. Whatever makes you the most comfortable is what you should use. Lots of people love this kind of shaving gear. Others love using straights and some want the convenience of cartridge. Each have their benefits and they're all valid options. Awesome stuff!

Seems a lot of money initially, but a decent safety razor ($60), brush ($40), soap ($20) and blades ($10) will only cost around ~$130, and would last for a solid year. After you have the gear, its ~20c a blade, less than a dollar a month. Starts saving you money pretty quickly. $130 first year, ~$30 every subsequent year.
To put it into perspective, most cartridges people buy are around ~$2.50+ each, so if you consider 1 a week, that's $10 month; $120/year + soap. $120+ every subsequent year.
@Rnewton4: Agreed. Initial outlay is a bit high, but you save heaps in the second and subsequent years, especially if you can buy bulk blades.

Shipping would be tomorrow morning. (Always within 24 hours) and usually takes 2 - 3 days to arrive in Melbourne. Some rural areas and semi rural suburbs are an exception.
I think it might be time to take the plunge and try a safety razor. Sick of forking out a heap on cartridges. Lets hope they are as functional as the reviews and not some hipster trend…
Safety razors have been used much longer than cartridge. There is a learning curve, but within a week you'll be sweet. They shave nicely and save money. Companies like MUHLE have been around long before hipsters and they'll be around long after. Not because of trends… But because the product is excellent.
