  • How much for a game cube

  • forgot to add the postage.

    • it's available in store.

      • Yep as Sage said, can pick up or home delivery ($5 to Sydney).

Are these proper quality controllers made by Nintendo or some shitty third party knockoff?

    Cable length?

    • According to Amazon, looks to be an official Nintendo product and a nice long cable length (10ft.)

    • +3

They're real. The cable is longer than the original Gamecube. (I don't have the exact length [edit: but above comment does.])
They've been producing these controllers since the Gamecube, most available through Nintendo's replacement parts service. They had these for the Wii too.

    • Carousel said they got in a shipment of them and have plenty right now.

    • I was under the impression they aren't real, but Nintendo licensed out someone to do them. Not quite full first party anyway.

      • quality is just as good as the original. I bought 3 upon release of SSB4 and had an original controller also in good condition.

  • My local EB even has original Japanese import GC controllers. They've been running these at $28 on and off with their usual sales, and they include the themed ones as well.

    • +4

The themed ones are not official nintendo. They are licensed controllers made by PDP. They plug into a Wiimote rather than into the Gamecube adapter.

The one listed here is an official nintendo gamecube controller.

      • Ahh okay. None the less, I've seen these at the same price of $28 a few times.

    • Is this the official one or a third party one?

      • +1

        Looks like the official one

Also picked up a GameCube controller today from my local store. Glad to be getting a brand new one at a good price. Cable also a decent length as well.

        • Thanks

Better bargain was when target were selling Gamecubes for $50 for 12 odd months.

    • When did that happen?

      • +3

        20 years ago :P

        • You must have a time machine at your disposal :P

    • not when EB was selling used gamecubes + controller for $10 ;)

      • +1

ahh those were the days when they were clearing them out (last 2008?)

    Steal at this price

I prefer not to steal at any price.

It is a figure of speech

  • Can the GameCube Super Smash Bros. Edition Controller be used with a GameCube or a compatible Wii model?

Yes, it can be used with these systems.

Does this mean these are also compatible with the old original Backward Compatible Wii models that supported the GameCube?

    • I like your answer sandwich.

    • Yes, but be aware that only certain Wii games support the GCN controller.

      • Was thinking more about GameCube games.

        • Yep, should work fine then.
I believe one of the Amazon reviews confirms it.

  • I have these in WHITE from overseas. I hate game-branded editions of anything. I wish they would have just put the Nintendo logo on the front (instead of the back like they have here). It looks like a cheap Chinese controller like that.

There have been a couple of Amazon reviews that stated that Nintendo cheaped out on the construction of these when looking at the internals (compared to the original Gamecube controllers). I can't say since I never owned an original Gamecube (sadly).

  • Went and picked one up from Northland.

Already have one (it's fantastic) and have some mates over weekly, the older controllers shorter cable length is annoying sometimes, so it'll be handy to have another longer cord one (with a brand new joystick, woo!!)

  • Any good games for GC on the Wii? I actually found one of these in my box of crap and was like…wtf.

    • +1

Baten Kaitos all the way, if you like JRPGs. Made by the same people as Xenoblade chronicles.

      • +3

Nah I prefer games like super Mario!

    • Any good games for GC on the Wii?

      Mario Kart Double Dash!!
      Worms 3D

Good, my GCN controller's joystick was beginning to come loose. Awesome that I can buy a genuine brand new controller for my 14 year old console :)

  • These plug directly into the first Wii, right?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +1

By "first Wii" you need the original model RVL-001 and not the later revision RVL-101.

Easy to check, look for the GCN ports. :)

Got one from the Bendigo Store today. It was the last one on the shelf but the staff member checked their stock on the computer and said they had several more, just not on the shelf.

  • Thanks OP.

    • no worries :)

watch the availability - in december I was out and about and checked EB games website stock checker and it said chadstone had stock, I went in and it was a nightmare wading through (around christmas time and Im disabled, tricky to get around) but it was for my daughter. the staff member I got said they had none, the stock check thing was incorrect and to add insult to injury said 'its an old system' and I reminded him about the smash editions ' that game has been out a loooong time now' - didnt update the stock checker after i left, I rang a more local place immediately, they had a few black and one white, put one aside for me , i collected the next day and we have a great time now we can do 2 player gamecube and wii stuff . moral of the story, the EB Games stock thing lies and some places don't update it, ring em.
