Flights from Melbourne to Vancouver BC

Hi all,

I need a flight from Melbourne to Vancouver BC
Departing Melbourne - June 29th
Departing Vancouver - July 9th
Not flexible with dates unless it saves me like $800

Best I could find is in the $2,100 - $2,200 range.

Anyone seen better?

  • Can you go via LA instead? Prices have been shockingly low lately.
We paid $2300 in July last year to go to Vancouver. QANTAS ended up being the cheapest, as this is school holidays.

    • The $2150 Delta is via LA 2:45 hour layover

  • I didnt even see a flight anywhere near the price of $2100 during my searching.

Seattle return is $1468 at STA Travel. Its not that much to bus it up to Vancouver, its a bit more to train it but yeah.

Vancouver return is $1717 plus whatever types of credit card fees you may be charged (http://au.travelgenio.com/HTMLREDIRECTAU2/MEL/YVR/1/0/0/29-0…)

The Vancouver flight has the exact same routing except the additional flight from Seattle to YVR.

    • This is it. Choice of cheap or easy. Bolt Bus is around $35USD return Seattle - Vancouver. With the extra transport + ESTA etc you'd be looking at around $1550 return and about 30 hours each way.

  • I want to go to Canada after so many people suggesting it on my relocation thread.
    HAVE FUN!

    Hopefully be there soon.

  • May I ask why you have left it so late??

You aren't going to get under $1000, you probably won't find much under $2000 unless you want to wait in LA for 8 hours and those flights are $1800, only $250 more for a 2 hour wait instead of a 8 hour wait.

$2100 sounds pretty good to me.

The other thing you could look at(as already suggested) is getting to somewhere like Seattle , renting a car and driving or training.

  • As mentioned before, you probably won't get it any cheaper being that you're flying 5 weeks out into a busy N.A. summer period.

If you're feeling risky and you can snag a cheap return to LAX, try Allegiant Air from LAX to Bellingham (a small regional airport about 20 min south of the border). This will only work if you have a mate from Vancouver willing to drive down and pick you up. Problem is that the airport is in the back of Bourke (think Avalon) and if miss your flight or gets cancelled, you're SOL. Plus, border crossing is more random than a lottery - could be 5 min, could be 2 hours.

Have a double-double from Timmys for me!

  • I got $2,076 on United via LAX
