To Buy Sony A6300 or A7II

Just want to start a discussion on whether it's worth buying the A6300/A7II now or wait for A7III.

I mainly do stills and really missed my old A6000's AF when I was using the A7(sold the A6000 to get the A7 and now just sold the A7 for a new camera)

I really like the idea of IBIS, but knowing the AF won't be as fast as the A6000/A6300 is sort of a deal breaker for me.

Knowing the A7II body can be bought for ~$1450 during a sale and I can get the A6300 kit lens for about ~$1450. Which would you buy? Do you think the A6300 will become a bargain like the A6000 anytime soon?

TLDR. For ~$1450, would you buy the A7II or get A6300? Or wait for price drop/wait for A7III

    I would go for A7 series as FF sensor, might not be big difference nowadays, but still has its benefit in some situation. not sure about the 6300 but I love the feeling of the A7 in hands.

      But take into account the glasses that you need to buy as well. FF glasses are ridiculously expensive compared to APSC ones and Sony's Zeiss branded or G master lenses more so. So the bodies might be equal in price but the investments you need to put in to expand your kit is not the same.

      My guess is, you will be waiting for another year or so before the next A7 III and by then it will cost you about 2000$ brand new maybe? And it will take that much longer again before it goes on sale. Have a feeling the A9 will be released first before the next vanilla A7.

      At the end of the day it comes down to how much you like the AF isn't it?

      AF + portability + cheaper lenses + sensor is smaller VS sensor is bigger + expensive lenses + heavier (in comparison) + IBIS (4.5 stops worth?)

      Do you plan on growing your lens kit? Or do you normally stick around kit lens + 1 prime

      And what do you normally shoot anyways? And how often.

      For me personally - I would've snapped up a 1450$ A7II. But my circumstances are different than yours and to me AF is not a big deal(breaker or maker).

    I would get the a6300 for travel. If you don't care about portability the a7 is the obvious choice.

    On another note, I spotted this today - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142154177484

    The ebay seller doesn't have a very big score, which would stop me from buying it. That and the recent release of the a6500.
