Yet it still works out to $3.50 per bottle. Less if you live in NSW/VIC/SA/ACT. For 12 seperate bottles of wine the shipping is probably the actual cost they incur for the packaging and the Australia post eParcel.
Was just about to post this myself. Have bought a few from cotd in the past - some quite nice. All suitable for cheap funsies anyway… :)
PS. Yeah shipping rates are teh suxor. I like when Winemarket has a discount thing with free shipping. Once about $2 a bottle delivered! Woohoo!
PPS. It's actually true that they're usually up to $17 a bottle. Guess it's cheap cause it's best before July - better get my drinking boots on…
These bottles sold for $9.99 at my local Dan Murphy's. The red is quite good wine (have not tried the white). A few weeks ago the plastic bottles appeared in the bargain bin for $8 each. Looks like the concept of light weight bottles didn't take off. Checkout staff were really surprised by the weight of the bottles as they scanned them. Probably a good indication that not many were sold.
$3.50 each is an absolute bargain.
Don't worry about the short use by date: it's inherent with plastic bottles as plastic is not completely impervious to oxygen.
never tried PET bottled wine.
any opinions?website is slow
might try later
can u actually combine this with stuff from the normal COTD site? The COTD site was very slow for me, but I managed to put my order through for a box of 12.
I would describe the red wine as smooth with medium blackberry fruitiness. Very drinkable and pleasant. At $3.25 per bottle inc postage it's an absolute steal. Wish I could order more than one box.
The most disgusting wine I even tasted was from catchoftheday. It was nothing like the description.
But if taz and cluster say this one is good, then OK.
Disgusting wine can be made into tasty sangria
I once bought a carton of wine from Dan Murphy's for $1 a bottle. Tasted disgusting on its own but made great sangria when left in the fridge for a few days.
I only found out about the deal because old people were on the news outraged that wine was cheaper than water. They were concerned young people would organise parties on the interwebs, get drunk on $1 wine and then fornicate on their front lawns.
says limit 5 to customer????
COTD checkout process claimed 1 per customer. I'll go back and check later on.
I'm a red drinker but I rarely drink white. Shame you can't order just the reds.
Wolf Blass… Gross, seriously.
pity about the expiry date…
horrible shipping rates!
