Well it really works for them , the more they sell/giveaway the bigger the rebates they will get from the distributor, while still making profits on the other items

Any bet the distributor of the DVD's is making the cost of each unit for retailers as low as possible so this can also be the best selling DVD/blu-ray of all time.
Strange what kind of comments get a negative vote around here. Too many whining people with too much time on there hands.
I personally think your assumption would be pretty close to the mark. They took out biggest grossing film, now they want to push for home media sales. Add to that the more blu-rays they sell the greater chance a % of those people will want to jump onto the 3D wagon, meaning the uptake of the new tech will be quicker.
Great bargain by the way.
And as Carlscott1982 found, this is a very bare-bones edition. I smell CE coming soon so a whole bunch of people will end up buying both.

Surprisingly bare-bones Blu-ray. No (nothing) special features.
My blu ray from JB also came with a small Avatar book which is pretty nice quality considering it's essentially a freebie. It appears like it would be interesting reading if you are really into it.
Good deal from JB's perspective - this DVD will sell out in the next few days and they won't have to give many away.
