whats the quality like though, ive bought no name rechargables before, and the are really bad, can't hold charge, and dont really seem to work, are these fast charge? and they where the largest at the time.. (think something like 2500mah.)

  • These are the highest capacity ones that I've seen. My Panasonic AA ones only claim 2600mAH. Is the technology improving that fast? Are those figures for real or are they inflated? I'm skeptical.

  • Yeah I bought no names before and they are pretty bad. After that it seems that its worthwhile to spend a few extra bucks to get branded (energiser, etc) for each battery. It will work out to be cheaper considering they will last a lot longer and more reliable.
Having said that the no names are good for devices that don't take to much power like remote controls for tv, dvd player, etc. Not good for wireless keyboard and mouse and they seem to die very quickly.

    • nah, i dont agree, rechargeable in remotes <> a good idea.

mainly cause they don't hold there charge over a long period of time.
there is one brand that is ready charged when you buy them and do hold there charge better than normal rechargeables, however they still do loose some of there charge.
the no name brands tend to loose it within a few days…

        "THEIR" ffs! GRRRRR!!!111

        • well i cant edit it now that you responded to it can i! :P

"lose" as well. 2nd "there" is correct though.

A good set of alkalines are good for remotes - they can last for years.

      • Sanyo Eneloops. You can buy those at Deal Extreme as well as supermarkets like Woolies

They have low self discharge rates but the downside is that they have average capacity.

Then again if you just want to power remotes or other low powered device, Eneloops are probably what you want since they don't drain as quick as normal rechargables.

        • According to a varies touch forums the Eneloops form DX are FAKE. the 4 AA I bought lasted less than a month.

actually, there is quite a few brands now, they are know as Low Self Discharge (LSD) or generally marketed as Ready To Use.

Eneloops were first to market I think, but there are many other brands out there now, such as Powerex Imedio, Uniross Hybrio, and Energizer and Duracell have their versions also amongst many others.

However, I think for most remotes, its not worth the money to use LSDs unless they really chew through batteries (like the Harmony) when you can stick a budget set of alkalines in it and have them last for years..

As far as this deal goes though, rarely (if ever) do cheap batteries claiming high performance ever live up to their claimed rating. Anyone buying these, don't be disappointed when you get what you pay for ;)

  • Ive got a set of these AA's, only 2300mAH, and as goblin says, dont even try and use them in high tech devices, they last for about half an hour on a full charge in a wii controller, but they do work well in a remote

  • The warranty is only 1 month. I think that could be telling you something.

  • No-name rechargeable batteries claiming higher performance than reputable and tested brand-names such as Sanyo, Panasonic, Powerex. With a whole 30 days of warranty. Hmmm, let me think about that for a nanosecond… Not a good deal.

  • they were doing Samsungs for about $13 a few weeks back… same number of batteries

  • these are actually not bad, my brother got them, for the same price, at a shop front, so thats 10 bucks for 4AA. For 10 bucks, its pretty good, but for 15 (including shipping), maybe not so good, because if you had another 5 (well 7), you can get get eneloops from any DSE/tandy. Well i assume you only want the AAs.

Having said that, my sony ones, which ive been using for about 2 years, have died with normal use (2700mah ones)

The deal is for 8 batteries not 4. 1 x AAA 4pack and 1 x AA 4pack. Thats just $5 each pack plus postage.

  • If you're going for cheap rechargables, check out the ones they sell at Aldi. I've been really happy with the AAAs I bought there a couple of months ago.

    • DX has them cheaper, 4x 900mAh AAA Soshine ones are pretty good, still running in my LED torch after a couple months of light use (so they don't discharge quickly) and they cost $5 instead of $10 at Aldi.

Downside is the 2-3 week wait for anything from DX!

DX also has the Soshine AA 3000 mAh ones for $10. They will obviously take longer to be delivered but they have pretty good reviews on DX for the same price as this post.

  • I got 8 of these free with a Canon speedlite flash I bought off ebay, capacity is ok compared to Duracell 2500mah my only complaint is the self discharge rate is higher than normal.
