I was looking to get a Camelbak Podium Chill for cycling, and have been looking for deal.

Anaconda has them on special at the moment for $13.99

I managed to get Amart Sports to price beat by 10% bringing the price down to $12.60 proof: http://imgur.com/mwFhPpJ

cotd had 2 of these + hydration belt for under $20 2 weeks ago and it had gone down to this price a number of times this year, so if anyone interested, you may want to keep an eye on cotd.

  • Dropped mine in altona during a tri race and forgot to go back and pick it up :(

  • They are excellent quality sports bottles. I prefer the clear see through ones so that you can see how much fluid is left in them.

  • This is by far my favourite camelbak bottle…..and I've got about 6 different camelbaks with differing nozzle designs.

Note, the insulation does next to nothing, but the flow is great, and that's what matters.

  • podium ICE is marginally better. so the best overall. can be had for around the same price, usually ribblecycles with some discounts.

    • What makes the Podium Ice marginally better ? I notice they are a little more expensive

      • better insulation so extra time your drink stays colder for a bit longer.

they went off the market for a while because the supplier of the material closed, so looks like they fixed that problem.

short of having a stainless steel thermo, this is the best option for exercise, bicycle or otherwise.

      • Podium Ice is supposed to have more insulation than the Chill.
Though on a hot day, unless you have a Thermos, your water in any camelbak is going to be warm :(
Thermos is amazing, left a full bottle of ice + water it in a car on a burning hot day, there was still ice in it 3 hours later.

  • shipping cost?

    • Their website says $9.99 which is capped for all standard postage items

so that's not really a bargain once you factor in the cost of shipping V_V

        • Yep
Exactly why so closed down the link soon as I saw that.
Other suppliers I've seen sell at 20 delivered.

  • Seem like this has ended. I'm getting $19.99 - $22.99.

I have a Podium Chill and didn't think it was doing much compared to my non-insulated Nalgene OTG.

I did a test anyway, and in an indoor environment it actually does keep water colder for longer - by 30% in my test.

I poured ice water in both and logged the temperature every 30 seconds. The Nalgene took 84 mins to go from 5 degrees to 15 degrees, the Podium took 109.5 mins. Ambient temperature was about 25 degrees. The temperature gradient will be steeper in warmer locations, e.g. outdoors under sunlight. I should probably repeat the test with the bottles under the sun.

The difference in surface temperature is very clear too. The Camelbak was at about 20 degrees, the Nalgene bottle at about 11.8 degrees.
