This is a regret post as we just bought this for $40 shipped last week and consider it a bargain :(

The book itself is very beautiful, with magazine quality papers and illustration in alternate pages. Perfect for collection, gift or to re-read again the whole saga (the second book will be released October this year)

      I had put in two separate orders (the second after I found out about the free shipping :) ), and received this for the second.

      I think it's really excellent of them to honour the orders. I'm pretty sure everyone realised that there was no way they had stock for all this. Most businesses would have cancelled it without as much as an apology, citing their terms and conditions. I have had orders cancelled by both Harvey Norman and The Good Guys during the last fortnight.

      I'm in the same boat.

      We're often quick to criticise retailers when they demonstrate poor customer service, so allow me to say kudos to Booktopia for the honouring everyone's orders and not taking the easy way out by apologising and simply refunding everyone. There are plenty of retailers that wouldn't have the same if they were in that position.

      I actually think they expect you to go on with your life during the next few weeks. But yes, no action required is how I read it.

As a result the demand for this title has been extraordinary and has exhausted our stock-on-hand many times over. There were simply more orders than we or our local supplier had stock for.

  • yeah I'm happy they're honouring it, well done booktopia. Even though Ive since found out that my kids already have this book, doh. It will be good for a present for one of their friends birthdays though.

  • Booktopia always has excellent customer service, I bought another book at the same time in the same order and they dispatched it the next day. A lot of places wait til all the order is in before shipping. I've always been pleased with Bootopia. At first I was freaked out by emir packaging but honestly every book I've ordered had arrived undamaged, QBD on the other hand, packaged great but my book inside damaged to hell, so they had to of put it in that way. Contacted customer service and zero response, it's been weeks.

    • With such a large order, they can negotiate large discount from distributor.

      • Genuinely wish they can get a large discount to minimise any potential loss as a result of the pricing error!!

          @bargainist: that's not unheard of, as long as the price difference is not ridiculously huge like Jb Hifi's Samsung dish washer!!

    Received the book this morning.
    I feel…a bit bad for myself. I should have pay more for this book. The drawings and quality is amazing. It's worth the money if purchasing full price. Gonna buy the other six.

  • Mine was delivered this morning. I'm very impressed with their customer service. Getting the second book from them http://www.booktopia.com.au/harry-potter-and-the-chamber-of-… although it's a little more expensive than Amazon.

  • This book is totally sweet. The illustrations are awesome and it even smells book-ishly great.

    Serious kudos to Booktopia for several reasons, a) not cancelling b) awesome packaging and c) quick delivery (all things considered) and d) good communication. Will pre-order the next title from them for sure.

    Picked up mine today. Wow, the book is much bigger and better than i expected. The drawings are amazing. I too feel a bit bit about only paying $12 but kudos to booktopia for honouring the price.
