YouTube Red has finally come to Australia. Google has announced an initial price of $9.99. Good for those who want to jump on it at launch.
It removes ads and allows users to save any video for offline playback. This is alongside a dedicated app for listening to music. Making this a pretty sweet deal as it doubles as a music streaming app.
In effect. Without money YouTube would not be where it is now. Video spend time, effort and money to make a video that they upload to YouTube, with the knowledge that for every view they get, subscription they get etc. That money comes from Google. Google make this possible through revenue they get from each video someone views, they watch an ad. Maybe you can see the picture here. If google don't make money through ads on youtube, the impacts can be pushed on to video content producers.
Anyway it won't be for long as Google is pushing a new way of punishing ad blocking users with 3+min advertisements as part of the video stream which is un-blockable.
