There is also a 50% off audio books offer at the moment, though it's unclear (to me) when it will expire and what books are half-priced.

Thanks for the info. I did not know that they are merely reselling Audible.com's audio books. Audible.com runs a lot of different promotions so I guess it would be better to go direct to the source.
My recent investigations suggest that Dymocks is merely an affiliate, reselling Audible.com books. I already subscribe to Audible.com and a quick investigation of the Dymocks/Audible pricing and promos left me very happy to maintain the status quo and deal directly with Audible.
I guess one possible advantage for some might be the ability to purchase Audible.com material and pay in AUD$. But in my experience, in these situations, the customers always get the pointy end of the stick when it comes to exchange rate conversions, and fluctuations. I'd rather pay Audible direct and in USD$ and pocket the savings.
One annoying thing about Audible (which is not Audible's doing, but the publishers requests), (remember Audible is just a "book store"), is when Audible cannot sell me a book due to geographic (outside USA) limitations of the publishers.
At the time Dymocks launched their audiobooks, I checked with Dymocks and Audible to see if having a local Australian affiliate would change that situation and now give me access to the books I can not currently select from Audible. The answer back from both was that there would be no change to any current distribution and publishing agreements. ie: NO BOOKS FOR YOU !!! :-)
So all in all, I see little advantage in buying Audible.com audiobooks from Dymocks.. even at "50% off"
Just my 2c…
