Hi,
Took advantage of great fares with AA to KL and booked a trip to Perhentians.
Can anyone recommend any decent places to stay close to or on beach? Budget of around $50-$70 per night.
Any other tips/recommendations about the place?

I stayed at the Tuba Bay resort for 5 days - two families with a few young children. Considering what they are charging, the facilities are pretty basic but the rooms are comfortable. Snorkeling is average compared to QLD beaches and the food menu is quite limited, but there are a few other eateries close by.
Accomodation is quite expensive on perhentian.You may be able to get accomodation at a backpackers that suits your budget and August is a very busy month due to European and Malaysian school holidays so it is recommended to book in advance.
There are two islands in perhentian and kesar has cheaper accomodation.
