Seeking Colour Laser Printer Owner's Opinions

I would like to print a mixture of colour photographs and colour school reports, and achieve reasonable quality at reasonable prices.

Does anyone here own a colour laser printer (preferably with reasonably economical toner replacements) that they would recommend for this purpose?

(I already have a mono laser for my own use, and don't think that I want an inkjet)

I checked out a few cheapish colour lasers and have an expensive one at work, you won't have photo quality if thats what you are after.
Photos in a report, homework etc are fine but not good like good inkjets do, they just don't get tones right.
you can always get real photos printed at a shop though.

    • Photos will mostly be just for the kids, sending to grandma, sticking into home-made cards etc. so quality is not critical - I have read that it is possible to get "decent" photos by using suitable paper etc, but that because all colour lasers are CMYK (Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black subtractive colours) they'll never match a 6-colour inkjet or commercial lab.

  • Cp225w. Current cheapest is bing lee $129 plus $10 post if required. 4 cartridges $58 on eBay. Can google cloud print/airprint.

    • I was just looking at that one - clearance at OfficeWorks for $100, so might take the plunge.

      • I couldn't find any available at officeworks. Msy also has than at $94, but no stock also.

        • You're right.. for some reason I assumed that if there was no stock in ANY stores, then they would take it off their webpage.
