Telstra eBay Exclusive Plan $40/Month 5GB Data $1000 Call Credits - 12 Month Contract

70

Note this is an eBay exclusive deal similar to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/238586 but with less data (5GB instead of 7GB) but certainly better than https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/247250 as you receive full services instead of online only.

You cannot access the page directly from Telstra.

You may use this search to get some mobile phone listings:
http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Mobile-Phones-/9355/i.html?_dcat=…

Looking for any mobile phone listing on eBay and find the link below "Paypal" part as per screenshot:
http://s32.postimg.org/oc7m8zn8l/shot.png

It should redirect you to below page:
http://s32.postimg.org/5m2rpro85/telstrapage.png

This deal should be better than: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/247250 as this one has full support.

Some fine prints at the bottom of the page:
Go Mobile BYO Plan: Some usage is excluded, such as calls/text/MMS to premium numbers (e.g. 19xx numbers), 1234, 12455, 12456 and satellite numbers, content charges and use overseas. Unused allowances expire monthly.

BYO Handset: You need to BYO a Telstra Mobile Network compatible handset to take up this plan. Check that your handset supports 3G-850MHz and both 4G 1800MHz and 4G 700MHz to ensure you get the best possible experience on the Telstra Mobile Network. See telstra.com/device for more information.

Extra Data: Extra Data is for use in Australia with eligible plans, is shared between eligible data sharing services on your account and expires at the end of that billing month.

You're better off with an Aldi XL plan for $35 per month. There's no contract, comes with unlimited calls, uses the same network and has 5gb allowance too. https://aldimobile.com.au/plans/xlvaluepack

    • Aldi call centre:

Monday to Wednesday 8.30am to 9.30pm
Thursday to Friday 8.30am to 11pm
Saturday to Sunday 8.30am to 8.30pm

I don't think you will receive the same level of services from Aldi plus eg. Telstra Air/Footy Pass/Apple Music etc. Of course it really depends on what people really need.

I don't think it's worth $60 extra for slightly better call centre hours.

Plus as a Telstra customer I can assure you their customer service is absolutely terrible, so I can't imagine Aldi being any worse.

        • Aldi is worse than Telstra for customer service.

    • Does Aldi provide 4G and LTE support?

      • -1

Not now but in 1 -2 months it will and all customers will be switched automaticall.

      • yes, part of telstra 3g/4g

    • As far as I know Aldi uses Telstra's 3G wholesale network. Telstra is talking about wholesaling their 4G network starting in June - I don't know if Aldi will have access to it.

      • Aldi website already advertises "Now with 4G"

        • Cool. I did some more reading and they started using the 4G network on 28 April.

  • Very similar to this one. So much to chose from.

    • If you do not mind online only services, MX is a lot easier to get from online or in store.

  • 5GB is not enough

  • No need to search for anything on ebay the address is clearly visible on the screenshot you provided.

    https://www.telstra.com.au/latest-offers/ebay

    • No, it will say you are not eligible to receive this offer. You can of course remove the part of the html masks the actual page.

  • I chatted with them, it's a $50 plan reduced by $10 for new numbers. i.e. you can't switch to this plan.

  • "Full services"?

What are those? If you mean phone based customer support, that's rarely needed, I wouldn't lose 2gb/month over it

    • phone support + in store support. Not necessarily to use them but always handy to have them in place. Where would you lose 2 go if this is a new service?

  • So glad this deal came back a day after I signed up for the $60 - Unlimited Calls + 10GB Data.

I just talked to Telstra and they are switching me to the $40, but since my home phone is bundled I get $50 credit to spend on Datapack/Calls. So if I get the $35 Data pack I basically have the $60 Plan (which is discounted $10 already) at $40 :D

  • No matter how I get to the Telstra offer page, the next page has it at $50/month.

That being said, I'm currently out of contract. Will they let me recontract to this??

    • +1

You will need to fill the details and it seems only if you are a new customer the $10 discount will apply before complete the application

  • Can someone let me know why this is better then the prepaid plan? I don't mean to be "that guy" and I definitely appreciate OP posting it but for $40 prepaid on freedom plus I get unlimited calls, unlimited text, 3gb net any time, 3gb net at night (so 6gb) plus $350 intl credit, AND the credit rolls over to the next month all on telstra.

I just ask because I feel like I'm missing why getting 1gb less, not unlimited and being on a plan is better? I'm not saying its bad, but I went to the Telstra store last week and the guy there tried to sell me this plan (even though I was already on telstra he said it was fine) not sure if that helps people who are already on Telstra or looking for other ways to get on this plan not through eBay.

Also yeah, don't know if my post should be on the forum instead, if so soz soz OP.

    • I'm on $40 freedom plus too. Some one may use 3+GB data during the day and has no need for google play credit + international call but prefer bigger data allowance during the day.

      • Thanks mate, the way the Telstra guy was telling me I was wondering if there was like a free magical unicorn you get on purchase or something XD. Cheers for clearing that up!!
