Neighbor just arrived in country and they have 8yro lil girl starting school this week.
Her school has asked to get them some sort of tablet / ipad.
They cannot afford ipad yet for her but looking for tablet ( screen size is not important).
Appreciate if someone can help in finding a good ongoing bargain/deal for school kids tablet.
Also, ask the school if they have a rent or lease program that includes insurance against loss or damage.

Yea, your neighbour will need to check, because my kids' school has an ipad program, Android tablets are not supported.
I can't imagine an educational setting where "any tablet" is any use to an 8yro. How would the teacher deal with 20 different devices with different software setups being used by little kids? It is different in high school, but 8yro?
Maybe they are talking about a device for access to Mathletics or a similar online resource at home? If so, any computer or tablet would work.
I saw a 7 inch or 8 inch table5 at Target for $49. 1GB ram.

If you're looking for something that she can scratch and nobody will mind to much, check the Target bargain bins for a Pendo. Cheapest I could see online was $69 at officeworks but don't expect much from it.
This is probably not a bad option. Enough for some basic web and document work, can connect a USB flash drive via the USB port / micro SD slot for extra capacity or other peripherals as well.
I find Ritalin pretty effective for my kids.

I would be very hesitant to purchase anything with the amount of information you have provided.
Did the school mention 'Ipad' or any tablet device. Reason being the compatibility of software and applications that are going to be used in the classroom.
Also check the schools 'Bring your own device' policy.
