Hi, looking for a monitor mainly for word processing and chrome, don't really game but want extra real estate.
Was looking at 1440p for that extra space but then I found a few 4k monitors around the same price.
Plan to use connected to laptop with Intel 5500 graphics, which i read seems to support 4k via display port?
Is it worth getting 4k vs qhd all else being equal?
Size is 27", that's ideal for my intended use right?
Thoughts on ultra wide monitors for my use case?
Anyway here's what I'm looking at, what would you pick?
LG 27MU67 - $599
PB279Q - $635
Otherwise the 1440p Dell U2715H for $645.
Thanks guys
A few thoughts. The LG lists 27MU67 as "discontinued product" (does it matter?). I am a bit paranoid about getting a brand new monitor with dead or bright (stuck) pixels. Yes, I have seen it, and yes, it is rare, but it definitely does happen. LG and Asus would only accept such faulty panel for replacement if there is a group of faulty pixels. Dell UltraSharp has Premium Panel Guarantee, and will replace the monitor if only one bright pixel is found (no mentioning dead pixels). Benq is currently the only manufacturers promising replacement (up to 4 weeks) if only one dead or stuck (bright) pixel is found - but this is only for some (premium) models.
Expect someone to post "I bought X brand and did not have any faulty pixels"… while indeed it appears that faulty pixels are rare, at the same time the manufacturers are VERY reluctant to guarantee perfect panels (yes!), and if unlucky, you may pay a lot of money and receive faulty monitor. BTW, this is NOT covered by various local consumer protection laws, as a few faulty pixels are not considered to make a product unusable, and applicable engineering standards define how many groups of faulty pixels are within acceptable manufacturing tolerances.
