Tefal Effectis EasySteam Generator - $169 (after $50 Cashback) + $69 EFTPOS Card + $20 Store Credit @ The Good Guys

Probably not the best idea to get Mum or the Wife an iron, but if she wants/needs one, here's an awesome deal! Everything stacks so well to get the iron for (essentially) $75!

  • Valid Claimants who have made a qualifying purchase either online or at a The Good Guys Store that is located outside a 20km radius from an Endota Spa location will only be eligible to receive a $65 Pay Less Payback eftpos card in the mail.

So C&C from a store (check terms for store locations that get the EFTPOS card), and you've got this iron for $75!

And along the same lines, another iron:

Tefal Actis Steam Generator
$177, less $30 Cashback = $147, plus $65 Spa voucher/eftpos, plus $20 store credit = $62 iron!

Original Cashback C&C Deal

  • Interesting I got SMS'ed a $20 voucher unique code claiming to be from "The Good Guys" seems legit though. I have shopped with TGG before and provided my mobile number.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I've had 1 of those before, got some cheap printer ink :)
It's legit, they just do it to try to win you back, use it as a code at checkout

      • Can it be used in store?

        • +1

Yes I believe so, though you wouldn't get the C&C bonuses on at the moment

  • Just in time for Mother's Day.

Just a comment on these Tefal steam generators. I bought one from Myer due to the $100 ebay promo last time. It was delivered with the box "sealed" (not plastic wrapped but glued down).

On opening there were tiny traces of hair on the unit, a few water droplets in the water reservoir and the outer chassis seemed a bit damp in places. It just seemed used (even though the power cord was still factory wrapped).

No water came out of when I attemped to "empty" the unit however after opening the calc clean screw to have a look around 2 cups of water spilt all over the floor.

Called Myer and they said Tefal told them that these are factory tested and there may be traces/droplets of water still in the reservoir.

Called Tefal and they confirmed this however stated the amount of water that came out was nor normal.

Returned the unit as was not happy at being sent a used/demo unit. Now worried this could happen at a retailer (eg. TGG) who don't accept refunds for "change of mind" purchases.

    • That's hardly a change of mind purchase situation, it's being sold refurbished or used goods, which is not what you paid for. I find it hard to believe any half decent retailer would not accept this as a return.

Quite often irons will have condensation inside from batch testing. Nothing to worry about in most cases. Yours seems a little unusual though.

  • FYI too the main benefit of the GV6770 to the Actis is that there is a locking system on it.

When you are transporting or emptying the unit you will not have the iron slipping off the base (the Actis does not even have a bottom docking facility on it). IMO this is worth the extra cost of the GV6770 (unless you want a very compact footprint which the Actis is (footprint smaller than an A4 sheet of paper).

  • I have the old version of this after previously using a Philips steam generator.
Found that this one tends to leak every so often - ie instead of steam, it streams water. Can leave marks on clothes when it does this.
Otherwise it is easy to use and produces good results.

  • So when you claim does both points have to be applicable or just one of them for you to get the $65 eftpos voucher instead of the spa voucher? My home is more than 25km from a spa but cant find a good guys that is further than the 2 spas they have in Perth…:/

    • I'm not sure coz they conflict. What part of town are you in? Our endota spas are only cbd and freo

      • Yeah I'm up near Ellenbrook. Maybe joondalup store will qualify?? If it doesn't rather just get a cheap iron for now lol unless… It's actually a good spa? Haha

        • 25.8-26.5km away, depending on where in Ellenbrook. That should qualify in address. It's hard because in 1 line it says your address, in another it says the stores address :/

Joondalup is about the same distance (~27km) away from Perth, so you should be able to get the card :)

        • @Spackbace:
Yeah! A bit confusing!!!! Might goto joondalup to be safe. I'm guessing the address condition may be if u got it delivered?

        • @KupoHo:

          Maybe :/

Yeah just C&C from Joondalup and you'll tick both boxes :)

          20kms - you're safe :)

Wait - check the terms, it lists which stores get the voucher and which get the Eftpos!

You can go to Midland and get the Eftpos card :)

          @Spackbace:
Omg closer to home too, winning! Thanks for looking into it for me :)

Omg just had a look at those t&cs…not sure how it calculated the nearest spa to Belmont is 80km away hahaha!

  • This might be a dumb question, but how do you get $20 instore credit? Do we just ask TGG Customer Service team or they will send you a text message after you order?

  • So probably the most boring question I will ever ask on ozbargain but any recommendations for the best quality cover. Read a few things but couldn't find a definitive this is the eneloop version of ironing board covers that I just have to have.

    • With the Sunbeam boards the iron rack will fit the 2 Tefal models mentioned.

Or if you can afford it the Philips board is superior to the (now very old hat) Sunbeam ones as they were designed with Steam Generators in mind.
