This is the second one that I have received in a fortnight. This one is from 'National Australia Bank ([email protected])'
Email titled: "NAB Customer Survey - 50$ reward for your time!"
The text of the email:-
"Dear National Australia Bank customer,
At National Australia Bank, we sincerely value your opinions.
As part of our continuous improvement process, we're conducting a survey to benchmark the opinions of our customers.
We kindly ask you to take part in our quick and easy reward survey.
In return we will credit $50.00 to your account - Just for your time!
To start the survey, download and complete the form attached to this email.
We will use the resulting information to better serve all of our customers.
Thank you,
National Australia Bank."
As I use NAB a lot, I was almost 'sucked in'. One give away was 50$ rather than $50 in the email title, and another was their email address [email protected]

The part where "NAB" said "we sincerely value your opinions" was a giveaway.
"As part of our continuous improvement process" for me nailed it.
One give away was 50$ rather than $50 in the email title
Many spammy posts here on OzBargain from overseas posters also put the dollar sign after the numbers.
These days the scammers are getting better with their tricks. Received a Paypal email advising me of buying something which yet paying it. The "money owing" was a giveaway when I haven't buying anything lately - also checked with everyone in my family too (including missus).
I just got one from kmart@kmart.
"You have been selected for a job. We pay you to shop, and you keep the product."
I wonder if ozbargain should start a thread for phising emails with each new contribution giving a brief description. After all not only are we after bargains, but also avoiding being ripped off.
You'll be surprised at how many people who actually fall for this.
