The 50mW green and 100mw red

Pretty sure those wattages are illegal…

    • for laser pointers yes

      • So how is this any different?

        • +1

These are an effect light. Click on the video and you will see the difference. A laser pointer is a direct solid beam. This is hundreds of beams broken up which decreases the strength of each beam.

Correct konji. These are not laser pointers Spackbace. Perfectly legal in all states including WA which has the toughest laws for lasers in Australia.

Yeah can't see that ending badly

    • I can see it ending quite fabulously inside my autonomous car. On that note, are there any ozbargain discounts around for autonomous cars?

How many of these are needed inside the a large garage? How long does it run on batteries? Does it move to the beat of the music?

    • How many of these are needed inside the a large garage?

That is a silly question. I have a length of string here, can you guess how long it is?

How long does it run on batteries?

Not very long if the laser power ratings are genuine (which is doubtful)

      • Hi IIama

You could purchase one and see how it goes in terms of your garage size. Would certainly give a decent effect.
As for how long they will run, I believe it is about two - three hours on the battery. However, you get a normal power lead with it as well so you can leave it plugged in all the time if you wish.

  • Hey Rep,

I got a popup when I visited the site which seemed to give a 10% off voucher.

Does that apply to this deal?

    • The pop up is a $10 voucher that you would have received. This is a discount for purchases over $250. So if you purchase $250 or more, then yes you can use this voucher.

  • Hmmm. Takes awhile to charge and won't even last a year should I decide to rave for half an hour or so every night. My body would probably pack it in first.

I wonder if it can be powered by portable 2A USB battery…

    • Aren't USB batteries (assuming you mean power bank style batteries) normally 5V ?

    • It's probably just got a couple of 18650 lithium cells inside.

4-5 hrs recharge means the adaptor's 2A is only giving the batteries about 0.2C (20% of capacity per hour). Most likely there is a very cheap and nasty Lithium charge controller inside that's only rated for 1A charge per cell, maybe only 0.5A per cell.

Cheap 18650 cells are 1500 to 2000mAh, so that's 4 hours to charge at 0.5A.

You could update the batteries to get more running life, and install a better charge controller so you can charge them faster. However you'd need more grunt from the power adaptor as well.

  • That is cool!
