Has anybody bought a refurbished Dell from Grays Online?
In the item descriptions it mentions that warranty can be purchased seperately from Dell. However I cannot find any mention of this from Dell and have no idea how expensive it would be to compare it to buying directly from Dell Refurb online store.
you can either get the service tag or serial number and plonk that in the dell warranty check to see how long it has been out of warranty. then simply contact dell quoting the tag number of the item and request for a quote.
depending on the item… eg. i have 3 x poweredge r720 with warranty about to expire in 20 days. dell quoted for the following: 1 year warranty extension of pro support approx $1800. 2 years costing almost $3k. Thats for 1 server.
sorry the above is a little off topic as they weren't purchased from graysonline but direct from dell.
With Grays..
You'll need to transfer the ownership to you within a month of purchase. Then purchase warranty. You do know Grays Refurbished are hardly "refurbished". Most of the time they'll give it a dusting and if it works.. thats it.. they'll pass it as refurbished.
buying from delloutlet is a much safer & better option. You'll be given a chance to return the dfo item withing 14 days if you are not happy with it. But all of their dfo have 1 year warranty included. You can also request to extend that warranty for extra $. Problem is you'll need to purchase the DFO then get a quote for the extended warranty. Sometimes the extended warranty can be so expensive it would've been better if you bought the item brandnew with the included 3 yrs wty.
