      • Thanks. Imagine that in a bikini.

Coffee beans in a bikini? That's a bit left field.

        • @Trishool: My imagination was more on the percentages of beauty.

        • @cornbeef: I know mate, just cracking a funny that's all.

Just placed my order. These guys roast seriously fantastic coffee!

  • rep do you have any decaf?

    • We have a new Decaf blend called Decaf Domination consiting of 50% Brazil and 50% Guatemala. It will be up on our site under the blend category within the next hour :-)

      • what does it taste like compared to say Jamocha?

I really like the latest beans ive been buying, but would like something more acidic

        • Very malty :-) I can do a light medium roast for you if you want. This will preserve more of the acidity :-)

  • Hi rep,

Received my coffee yesterday, many thanks for the quick delivery.

Just wondering when the coffee was roasted as I could not find a roasted date on the coffee bags or receipt?

    • Hi Pranksta, all coffee is fresh roasted to order so roasted and shipped within 1 or 2 days of your order. Generally speaking it takes about 5 days to degas after roasting and allow flavours to develop fully so if drinking within only a couple of days of roasting can still have a little bit of sourness.

If you received yesterday then most probably it was roasted and shipped on Friday meaning that it will be on about day 4 today :-)

      • Great thanks rep. Will leave it a few more days. Not sure if it will make a difference as I am not having much luck making my own coffee from scratch anyway!

        • Hey Pranksta, if you want to give me a bit of info as to how you make your coffee and what equipment you use I would be happy to provide some basic principles to try to assist you with getting it to a suitable standard.

Do you drink as milk based, espresso, long black etc and do you use a plunger, espresso machine, Aeropress etc Just Let me know if you need some help :-)

        • @mannabeans:
          Awesome thanks for the offer.

I have the Breville BES920 and smart grinder pro.

Mostly sorry black or long black, occasionally with some cream..!

        • @pranksta: Cool. If drinking mainly black coffee then more of a light medium roast coffee may suit you better. Some of the Ethiopian and Kenyan Coffees can be amazing for long black.

On any future orders if you want some of these more specialty coffees with this roast profile substituted you can add $10 to the $59.95 deal price and I can send some of my recommendations.

Not sure how comfortable you are with your barista knowledge but for long black a good way to start would be to fill your cup with hot and cold water so that it's around 60 degrees and then extract your shot on top(this will retain the crema for you.

Aim for about a 25-30 sec extraction. If it comes through quicker than 20 sec then the grind is probably too coarse and you could end up with a weak watery coffee. An adjustment is needed to make the grind finer. If it comes through longer than 35 secs then it could cause some bitterness in the cup and an adjustment should be made to make the grind a bit coarser.

The first 15 sec of the shot will usually deliver more sweetness and flavour and is referred to as a ristretto shot. When your coffee is extracting you can keep an eye on it flowing out of the portafilter. once it starts changing from dark brown to lighter brown then even lighter yellowey to clear. This later part of the extraction where it is light yellowy to clear is then becoming just bitter water and will negatively effect the finishing cup. You can often see this when it leaves a light yellowy stain on top of the crema and is called blonding.

If there are any problems or specifics that you want some advice with then please let me know

          Cheers
          Simon

    • Thanks David, no worries. About to roast an fantastic new Brazil Impenema Natural C68 Microlot that will perform really well for espresso. If you have a similar request for future orders feel free to leave notes in Paypal and I'll try to accommodate where possible.
It's more likely to get actioned if notes are in Paypal than posting in Ozbargain thread :-) Have a great week mate!
