My partner and I have an apartment with carpet that we want to replace with tiles (we can't afford timber).
Can anyone suggest good value tilers in Sydney? How much should tiling about 127sqm (lounge + 2 bedrooms) cost?
Thanks, guys!

About $50 per m for labor and about $20 per m for the tiles. Close enough.
How much are the tiles a sqm?
I had about 1/3 of that done for $700 excl tiles on a prepared floor.
I hope you have the proper approvals for the tile floor from strata. It would suck if your downstairs neighbour complained about transmitted noise and strata compelled you to remove them.
Floating floor boards. You can diy saving you money. It will end up cheaper than tiles. There is an underlay that goes down which will insulate alot of the noise from being walked on.
On a side note, you might need approval before you change carpets to tiles in an apartment.
^^^ Check this with the Body Corporate. You don't want to go installing a floor only to have to rip it up when your neighbours complain about your "suddenly loud" footsteps. Many apartment blocks require carpet or other soft floors or that you put a sound dampening layer down before installing a hard floor.
What about bamboo? I recently put this in and really happy with it - really easy to install yourself, the bits click together - no glue, nails, sanding or polishing required. You will however need a dropsaw to cut it, but a $70 Ozito one will do the job fine. You can get acoustic underlay that apparently reduces the noise below

Much better than tiles IMO
I'm a tiler by trade so can give you a few tips.
The cost of tiling your apt will depend greatly on the kind of tiles you are looking to put down.
A simple 300-450 mm square ceramic round edge tile can be as cheap as around $40 per m2.
If you're looking for something like 600mm polished porcelain with a rectified edge or similar. It's much slower to lay so expect around $60 per m2.
You mentioned you would have liked wood. Well you can get wood effect tiles which are quite realistic but expect to pay the most for this option as there would be some prep work involved. Unless you're on the ground floor, you'll find your floor dips in the middle in between walls. You wouldn't be able to lay a broken bond Wood effect floor without first having levelled the floor. This option would end up costing around $80 per m2.
Also as mentioned above, make sure to check with the body corp as to what acoustic underlay you'll need. Some request for a specific product to be laid and can sometimes even send a sound engineer to your apt for testing afterwards.
If you need the underlay, which is likely, expect o pay another $30 to $35 per m2 for this.
About $9000
