I will be travelling to Tas next week, Hobart, Coles Bay and Lake St Claire. I am loving watching the show BBQ Pitmasters and was just wondering if anyone knows of a good BBQ joint around any of the places I listed. Or even a nice/cheap places to eat around Hobart specifically?
Not many BBQ restaurants around Hobart or even Tas - plenty of burger joints though. Everydays Smokin Bbq & Bar are normally good.
best place BY FAR is Texas Pantry, make sure you book its only small but the meals are huge. Its as good or if not better than what ive had in the states. its my favorite restaurant in Hobart.
Would be interested too. Have heard good things about Texan pantry, haven't glut there yet
So after my trip to Tas I did get around to going to Texas Pantry and can highly recommend. Food was great.
I had the baby back ribs was delicious, GF had (don't have me for it, I did try to explain what kind of restaurant it was) a vegetarian feast which she said was one of the best meals she had ever eaten.
Make sure you book though as we saw people getting turned away that did not.
Smokey Joe's in Launceston is OK if you make it that far north, but not cheap.
I found it hard to get a good value meal in Hobart. The only exception was a pie I had in Cygnet that was literally the best meat pie I have had in 20 years and great value around $3.
