Saw this at Coles West Ryde last night. Seems to be all small bottles only at half price. Rarely discounted at half price.I prefer this over Frank's hot sauce.

I have about 10 different hot sauces, but Tabasco is the shit. Smoked Tabasco is the best for BBQ lampchops with rosemary and soy.
Bought some ABC chilli sauce over the weekend at Coles, good stuff!
I probably go through 1-2 355ml bottles a month. Only place cheap enough for those are Costco. Its not the only thing I buy there but I probably make membership back in Tabasco savings. Only problem with local stores is they don't get a variety of flavors/sizes. Only managed to find 4 varieties. Largest I have seen at coles and WOW is 150ml for $8.50ish…… STILL I will pick up a couple of these as I always have a small bottle in the glove box of each car, for when I do a Maccas drive through.
get a sriracha from Asian Groceries, 2Oz for <$5. it'll last you a few month and tastes really good, still not hot enough for us though
not enough kick for me either, but I do use it when cooking soup.
I find linghams has more kick than tabasco..
The heat in tabasco is not that high - but its great, doesn't overpower the food flavour
Admittedly, it's been 5 years since I've been to Costco, but I remember that they had a large sticker covering the ingredients list on the Tabasco box with a another list that had much less pepper sauce than the ones you get at ColesWorth.
Don't know why. :|WTF? im pealing it off right now to check. update soon.
6% peppers..anyone got a 150 or smaller bottle to check? My car is out so cant check my small bottle in the glove box atm.
Coles website shows 15-20% (that's bloody dodgy) Pepper sauce.
@HX925:
6%… Yep, that rings a bell. It's also why there is a much more pronounced vinegary taste (less Pepper sauce, more vinegar).
It's why I stopped buying it from Costco.I guess I should have said nothing and let you live in blissful ignorance. lol
@HX925: HX925 car rescue kit:
1.Small bottle of tobasco.
@Hotkolbas: 2. Some of those hand wipe sachets from KFC!
@petersx:holy shit, KFC hotbox with some tobasco
sux…decided not to renew my Costco membership….did a side my side comparison with the small and large bottle..the difference is noticeable…even the texture is a little runnier (higher vinegar content) with the larger bottle… :( iv finally comes to terms with it but i almost cried when I made the conclusion….maybe it was just the sauce causing the tears but I have lost respect for Tabasco. The label should read, "light" or something of that nature to explain that its not the original stuff.
@Hotkolbas: Hell yeah. Also got one in my work laptop bag..paranoid it will leak so I have it in a seal bag…At one point I was having a small spoon when I was waking up to help me get ready for the day, but as my tolerance grew, the effect wore off…plus the wife was giving me weird looks like I was cheating on her or something…lol
@HX925: your own self diagnosis. Love it.
On the note about your wife I think it's in all their heads that if something else draws you away from them it's classed as cheating.. . like my ps3 and bf4 and diablo 3 is classed as cheating.
@Hotkolbas: Awesome, same situation regarding gaming for me.. my wife thinks i'm in love with Yenefer of Witcher3, and Quiet from Metal Gear…haha.
It's probably parallel imported and the label need to conform to the food standards code
I bow to your hot sauce enthusiasm.
The IGA in Market City above Paddy's Markets in Sydney has catering size bottles of several hot sauces for pretty cheap. Definitely sriracha and a viet brand, maybe tabasco too. Thanks, I'll check it out.
Thanks. Definitely better then the recent $2.99 for 60ml bottle deal at Dan Murphys last week. Time to buy a few more.
I consider myself a bit of a chilli afficionado, and I know I'm going to tread on a lot of toes here but I find Sriracha doesn't have enough of a kick and has too much sugar for my liking, so I can't see what the hype is all about.
For mild sauces I much prefer Lee Kum Kee brand Chilli Sauce (made in Hong Kong) or Lao Gan Ma brand chilli in oil
I'm a massive chili-head too and totally agree. It's not so much that it's not hot enough for me though (I still like some mild stuff as well as blazing stuff), it's more that I just don't think it tastes very nice.
I really don't get the rampant Sriracha fanaticism. To each their own though.
Another typical fad. If you like Sriracha that fine, but don't turn it into a religion; it's a condiment.
I tried the Chipotle tobasco which isn't bad. If I see some of them at 1/2 price I'd grab them.
personally, i'm after the sriracha flavour rather than it's spiciness. I do agree with you though that it doesn't have much kick and i use it more like a ketchup rather than a chilli sauce.
and yeah, Lee kum kee is yum :-)
You guys are even comparing sriracha with tobasco? They're completey different.
i wouldn't say comparing them against each other, more like comparing preferences for these milder of chilli sauces.
besides, for me, there's certain foods that I wouldn't have with sriracha but would smother in tabasco and vice versa. in the same vein there are foods that i wouldn't pair with either and would have with a chilli sauce with more a mesquite flavour.
Sriracha to me tastes like sugar, preservatives, garlic and water with no heat what so over.
Tobasco has a little kick of heat and some nice flavor to go along with it.
Byron Bay Chilli Company - Habenero Chili & Mango Sauce: Kicks fairly hard (strongest hot sauce I've found made in Australia), and tastes so damn good. The rest of their range doesn't have any real heat though.
nice! good find! love bit of tobasco
mmm - now i can get back onto bloody marys on the cheap :)
Nice find OP. It's such a PITA to get Tabasco here, what with Colesworths not selling the 355ml bottles. I'll probably pick up a couple until I can find somewhere in WA that sells the larger bottles (providing the unit pricing is cheaper).
As I mentioned in the last thread it's definitely worth checking your local asian supermarket. Mine has the 355ml bottles for $9.50 all the time (which is a better price than this deal if you go through lots of it like I do).
I go through 355ml every 2-3 weeks. Don't really like Sriracha as it has sugar and garlic and stuff which makes it less versatile. Would love to find a cheaper alternative to tabasco (something that is basically just vinegar/chilli) but am yet to find anything close.
Just tried the new chipotle flavour, not bad, not as spicy as the original. I actually bought the last bottle of the original. I have to say,i do love my chilies and 8 varieties I have at home.
Coles Macquirie Park has them available so I bought some.
How hot are they?
Are they at least Tobasco hot? Hotter would be great. I might jump on that deal if they actually kick, but I haven't heard of them before.
It's enjoyable trying the different varieties. Similar heat to Tobasco depending the chili itself.
Funny story my wife gave me the habanero and it blew my head off. I googled habanero to discoverIn 1999, the habanero was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's hottest chili, but it has since been displaced by a number of other peppers
This is a very interesting deal. I saw this product at half price special earlier this year. This is only the second time I have seen the product at half price and I keep an eye on the product even when I am not buying it. I am wondering whether they are going to put the product on rotation for regular half price specials.
Wow. This crap is considered front page worthy now. Is this what ozbargain has become?
Worst. Neg. Ever.
If I had any left you'd get one too.
Will need to pick up a bottle of this. Thanks op
(I also like Sriracha.., excellent on dumplings, noodles and soup. Different proposition to tabasco.)
Tabasco chipotle is the BEST
great with bbq lamb chops and rosemary.
Last lot of hot sauces I got from here http://chilemojo.com.au/ probably not cheapest but massive range
thanks, checking it out now..
Yum… tobasco sauce is good with tomato based pasta. Is it very different to Frank's hot sauce? I prefer sriracha for foods that are not as flavoursome. And yes, it is not weird to have 6 different kinds of hot sauce in the house. :)
