It's a never ending loop man, just grab what you can afford and when you need it.
When the new card comes out, there will be rumors of a new chipset which everyone (like you) will start saying:
"wait until next quarter for the better card"
Except in this case it should be a significant bump in graphical technology.
And the new set of cards coming out in a month and a half are the first ones in 18 months. They give a massive jump to keep up with new VR tech.
Good deal, but i have FreeSync monitor so still waiting for AMD deal.
EDIT: nvm someone in France had the same question as me
Billut | il y a 9 moisStill not worth the price in my opinion. Either grab a 970/980Ti deal somewhere or wait for Pascal.
Yes please, wait for pascal, it will be an awesome Maxwell refabbed on a 16nm node. A-Sync is confirmed to support it as per Maxwell architecture!
English please man.
That's about as simple as it could be
Old large GPU on new smaller GPU for more pewpew
exactly what I was abour to say.
The way the 980ti's are coming down in price, they are starting to look very good bang-4-Buck
At about $700, I'd probably pull the trigger
Pretty good price.. but with new cards coming out so soon for both AMD/nVidia, coupled with nVidia having a habit of abandoning their old generation of cards or outright crippling with GameWorks - wait!
NO, No, No! Dont tell them that!
This is an awesome deal, go ahead and buy it!!!!
You will never regret it, you will have awesome long life support for an awesome card with gameworks and can also get a gtx970 3.5gb memory support for all VR++ games, g-sync and DirectX 12 With A-Sync!! it even says A-Sync on the box.
Please go ahead and buy it.I can sit over at AMD camp and watch my crappy 7970 againts the awesome GTX 780 Ti and losing by less than 1%, damn this DirectX12 4yr old A-Sync.
I even upvoted the deal for you :)
Is it sarcasm?
What? But yeah, still running a couple of 1970s myself in Xfire and they are doing the job.
Did you have a stroke?
LOL i got neg by all the nVidia fanbois for trying to get all the sheep to buy nvidia crap and their gimpworks, fake promises less than 1 yr old support and outright lies with 3.5gb! i guess they are soooo upset that their gpus are now crap!
@dcnguyen82:
The only Fanboi here is you sitting in your "AMD camp" as you put it. Most people just want best value card they can afford regardless of Brand. I Don't understand why you want people to buy what you perceive as a crap video card?
Polaris and Pascal (respectively AMD's and NVIDIA's new chips) are due to be announced/released as soon as 6 weeks from now. I think it is not a great time to buy a video card, especially not a 980 which has been the ugly step sister to the 970 and 980Tis.
what's the price range on the new cards?
My guess (which could be wrong)
GTX 1080 $800 - above 980 Ti performance, maybe 10-20% faster
GTX 1070 $500 - around 980 Ti performance480 $400 - 390X performance?
470 $250 - 380 performance?
As a PC gamer it is frustrating that console gaming is gimping our experience. We pay well over the price of the latest gen consoles for just a single component of the rig as per this deal, yet are subjected to scrappy console ports of AAA games (Dark Souls, The Witcher 3, etc.) What do we need to do as a community to get video game companies to give us something that justifies the cost and power of these PC rigs? Fair enough there are PC exclusives that are great but the same can be said of consoles. More and more I am seeing games development focused on consoles and a PC port done as an afterthought. Why bother upgrading to the latest video card when you can buy a latest gen console at a fraction of the price and get access to a whole swag of other games?
VR was the motivation for me.. Running a Vive on a 980Ti is pretty sweet.
Buying enthusiast grade graphics cards mean you'll run games at way higher resolutions as well as settings than their console counterparts. Yes some titles may be held back due to consoles but the PC counterparts will usually still look considerably better given you have the hardware grunt, even for multiplatform titles (shitty ports aside). It is however absolutely not a necessary thing to do just to get into PC gaming.
If you don't chase after the latest and greatest however it shouldn't be hard to build a PC around console prices to match/exceed console performance whilst retaining options not available on consoles such as playing games at 1080p/60fps or above. This wouldn't be taking into account the price difference in games either (especially with stuff like Steam sales), as well as the online subscription services you'd need on a console.
True that we do pay more as part of the PC Master Race, but at least we do get significantly better graphics in comparison to the releases running on a console.
We also get the ability to easily mod games, Skyrim being a good example. I quite like the fact that graphics cards allow PCs to run higher quality graphics overall as well as being able to get > 30 fps compared to a console haha.I'll leave this here. Comparison Image
People keep buying the games, even when they are crappy ports.

http://steamspy.com/app/374320I've basically boycotted all EA games because of the crappy season pass pricing model.
I can't stand games with huge focuses on season passes, feels like you have to wait 1.5yrs to get the full game so rather wait 1.5yrs for that but then I'd likely to forget or lose interest in the game by then.
Can you play PS1,PS2,PS3 games on your PS4?
Did you read dogboy's post?
It was about games on PC not pushing the high tech components PC's have, that console ports the PC gamers have are poor.
You question was silly, being able to play older games is definitely not a reason to upgrade your graphics card for $564.
"What do we need to do as a community"
Stop preordering and stop buying half assed ports. Or buy them and then get a Steam Refund until you find a game that works.
He was stroking himself with his AMD fanboi cards heating the room up…
Looks like it's still working - I just bought one around 5:30PM. I'm not sure if it's a normal option as I used an Amex, but I could choose between spending EUR and USD. Turned out to be ~$561 AUD when spending EUR, but $582 AUD when spending USD. So keep that in mind if you're picking this up.
Good price, but with new cards so close seems insane to grab this.
