Nope JQ only operate the A320 and occasionally A321 to NZ from SYD & OOL. If you would like a WB jet you can take Air Asia X from Gold Coast or LAN, Emirates, China Airlines, Air NZ from Sydney
Nope JQ also operate the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from AKL back to SYD on most of Saturday.
12:50pm Dept from AKL.
Correct JQ195 & JQ196 MEL-AKL-SYD is a 788 :)
Just curious, why do you want widebody jets? (How is it better than whatever the alternative is?)
Widebody jets would have 3 columns of seating rather than 2, meaning more space to move. not a big deal on a ~3 hour flight to NZ though.
no queenstown
drive
When I went last we drove from Christchurch to Queenstown. It's a fairly long drive but NZ is beautiful so it was worth it.
dangerous in the snow?
@RtN: We went in winter and didn't come across any dangerous snow on the drive between Christchurch and Queenstown. Some roads can be closed or require use of chains but we didn't come across any.
We didn't need chains until we went up to a mountain to ski, and we only needed them one day. Plus there were people there helping you put them on.
@RtN:
yeah i suppose I'd rent a 4wd if i was going to christchurch and then do the drive to queenstown especially you'd have a snowboard/sky bag etc and depending on how many people go i guess
@prankster: I did it in a pulsar.
@theguyrules: i have snowboard gear though =p
@prankster: me too! a pulsar with roof racks.
@theguyrules: i guess you can but i got my snowboard and stuff inside the snowboard bag =p
@prankster: ah fair enough, ours was all rental gear so we just tied them down on the roof.
@theguyrules: thats fine for the pulsar then :)
So Tempting, epic price
Also available from Melbourne to Christchurch. Booked late July
Great Price !! Nice work Jetstar
shonky jetstar
try booking a flight
going through they then automatically add luggage at $29 each way
and booking fees unless you pay how they want you to pay
you really have to keep an eye on what they want to charge each step of the way
Go through, make sure you don't select all the add-ons (it's pretty clear on the right hand side what you've selected).
Get to the payment page, select Poli, screen shot the page and then call Flight Centre.
They will beat that price by a dollar and won't charge you any fees.
If you call a local store you are keeping someone who lives within a few km of you in a job.
When you get to Sydney with the dollar you've saved in your pocket, check here.

I'm on Student Visa in Australia. Anyone knows if i can travel to NZ without obtaining NZ Visa or not? Thank you.
You need a valid NZ visa to visit as I know
Need to be an Australian PR or from one of these countries - http://glossary.immigration.govt.nz/visafreecountries.htm - to not have to get a travel visa.
That said, NZ travel visa's are ridiculously easy to get, unless you share a name with a terrorist or something.
the visa costs north of 100$ though, so it kinda defeats the deal.
in the past NZ immigration has had a "promotion" period where they allow in temporary Australian visa holders (students etc) to enter for free, so be in the lookout if they do it again.
Thank you guys so much @HNSCKS, @freefall101 !!!
Some of the prices have gone back up again.
Any widebody jet?
