Where to buy ugg boots in Sydney?

Looking to buy ugg boots for myself to wear at home. But some retailers are selling them for like $200. Can't tell if that's the real cost or it's the tourist prices.

Anyone know where to get them for a fair price?

  • Catch of the day. Or the Ugg shop in Faulconbridge.

    • Any tips on how to choose the ugg boots? Like are there different types of wool or different grades?

No, sadly. They're really hit & miss quality wise, even the better local brands now offshore most of their manufacturing so it's a bit of a lucky dip. I agree with James, just grab some cheapies off COTD.

I usually buy mine from Mortels here in Newcastle, they used to manufacture locally, but they told me recently that over half of their stock was now made in China…and judging by the feel of some products, you could really tell. The lambswool was nowhere near as soft & plush, some of it was quite wiry. I wouldn't mind if the price dropped commensurate with the manufacturing cost, but since they've only gotten dearer I will take the same advice.

        • Wow what a shame.
Just went to a couple of UGG retailers in the cbd and none of the shoes felt soft. They all felt like hard plastic hairs and not something I want on my skin.

Why is it still so popular? Is it still better than a fake synthetic pair?

@talismansa: Yes, even if it's a bit harsher to begin with, genuine lambswool should breathe & last better than synthetics…I haven't tested this, but one would hope it might soften up a bit with wear, but I can't be sure.

Another option might be Big W…they used to have short genuine lambskin boots for $50-60 which actually felt quite a bit nicer than the nasty steel-wool-like Ugg Australia stuff they're selling around the CBD.

I see tourists buying those things & feel sad that they're getting duped…

Sometimes those Chinese tourist shops have them discounted, the ones that stock UGG boots, baby formula, kangaroo oil, and lanolin.

  • If you're after genuine Australian Made uggs, you buy them online at www.uggs.com.au. They offer free delivery Australia wide.
