IKEA HÖGKLASSIG Induction Cooktop

The IKEA HÖGKLASSIG induction cooktop looks like excellent value: $995 for an 80cm Induction cooktop with a 5 year warranty. Has anyone purchased an IKEA induction cooktop? Looks like about half the price of equivalent models from other brands in Australia and apparently it is just a rebranded AEG.

AEG UK: http://www.aeg.co.uk/products/cooking/hobs/induction-hobs/hk… available for import via euappliances @$1500 (60-day warranty) http://euappliances.info/webshop/product/aeg_hk856600fb/2429

Not trying to hijack or anything, but FWIW I did note a 60cm induction cooktop in Aldi last night for $349 if that helps anyone…

Was it this one : linky ?

Yep, that looks like the one.

Probably the best price I've seen for a 60cm induction cooktop since the $199 Grays ones BigSue posted on here years ago!

  • AEG is also just electrolux, CHEF in disguise. They share their components and frames within the group

With the Ikea branded one you just need to watch out who actually does the warranty for them in Oz, or is it a remove and return to the ikea shop type of arrangement.

    • It's not a return to store arrangement as cooktops normally must be wired in by an electrician.

I couldn't see a link to the guarantee brochure on the product page.

      I found it here: http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_AA/pdf/guarantees/fy14/APPLIANCES_…

It says to contact Whirlpool for service.

Thats good. I know of obscure brands with no service centres requiring customers to get an electrician to disconnect their appliances and return it to distributers for assessment at owners cost.

Just googled "whirlpool also manufactures IKEA brand appliances for IKEA, Top Load laundry for Crosley and Admiral appliances for Home Depot."

Go for it. Buy! Pretty low risk. You can still chase up issues with ikea directly if it breaks down. Stoves dont normally fail prematurely as they are a very simple design

    • IKEA as the retailer would be liable to fix any problems as per the Australian Consumer Law.

  • Does it come as a flat pack ?

    • it's just a cooktop, so yeah it comes in a small flat box…

  • It should do, as it's less than 6cm deep.

  • OK well I bought it today so, 1) no more in stock in ADL and 2) I'll let you know how it goes.

Update: no regrets so far, it is awesome.

  • I bought an ikea induction cooktop 60% off last year and it's been great. Mine's made by Whirlpool and even at full price would've been half what other places charge. A five year warranty gave me confidence it would be good quality and I cannot fault it so far.

    • could you tell me which model? and the price you bought it for?

I'm looking at induction cooktops at the moment for a kitchen reno.

      cheers

I got the Nutid HIN4T for $359 (usually $599) which turns out to be 40% off. It was a year ago and I just looked up the photo I kept of it.

Check the bargain area of Ikea for clearances. I think I bought mine around July and that may be when they change kitchen designs. There was everything on special. Got an oven, microwave and range hood cheap. Range hood was a $1000 one for $299. Find out when they change over the range if they'll tell you. I think it's July/August.

All of the products seem to be excellent and I noticed last night that the microwave is made in Sweden.
