Which Tyres to Buy for Corolla 2013 Sedan?

I'm looking to replace a punctured tyre on a Corolla 2013 sedan. The current one on it is a yokohama 205/55r16 91v advan a-460 - I called up Bob Jane they are selling it at $220 which seems a bit dear for just an A to B car, the rep suggested Bob Jane and Nitto NT 860 which are both around $120.

I did some research on Bob Jane tyres and they rated poorly, Nitto no information.. What you guys think of these as alternative to the Yokohamas, any other alternatives you guys recommend?

Thanks

Why not swap out the spare? Or is it a space saver?

Have you tried having the puncture repaired and then put it on the back. The larger Tyre places will try and sell you a new tyre then onsell your old one to the second hand guys.

    • Oh the tyre is not repairable

  • Michelin Primacy 3 ST have good user reviews, quiet, good wearing, decent grip, made for Asia/Pacific conditions, mostly made in Thailand but some from China. Ring around for prices. Most will quote around $170 for that size - you could try but its tough to haggle on 1 tyre (as opposed to replacing all 4). Also my experience with Bob Jane is that they dont have your interest at heart whatsoever, usually try and push you towards a product they want to flog and I generally avoid them. Good luck!

    • Thanks I'll look into it, further research might go Bridgestone ecopia ep100 they got some good reviews and a lot of discussions on whirlpool, good on the $$

  • Jaxtyres doing Michelin pilot sports 3 for $145, have good reviews as well. Might get these!

    • For a corolla I would go primacy 3 over PS3 if they can match the price. Otherwise PS3 is a great tyre and the price is reasonable.

      • Going the primacy 3, bob Jane have a special for $150, thanks for your help.

  • Try KMart Tyres !

  • just me, but i wouldn't change just one tyre on an axle, i would change both

how many k's on the remaining 3 tyres?

i also don't like bob jane

any of these would be good

    where are you based?

  • Yokis are good tyres. Best to match what you already have until its time to change the lot.

Bob jane brand tyre. Avoid please

  • Go for Bridgestone (Made in Japan Stock) they are usually OEM tyres for Toyota
I usually use the Bridgestone ER300 for my Toyota Avensis ( I have always been lucky with Made in Japan Stock)
Buy it from a Bridgestone Dealer you get free rotation every 10. 000 kms

    Buy the black ones!

  • Have the Michelin Pilot Sports on my Focus. They're great. Have had some bad experiences with other tyres and now only but Michelins - they really are great.

  • Update… Wasted 3 hours that day, checked the spare tyre they have replaced when I got home, it had a cut on the front. Took it back for replacement but they ran out, either wait till Wednesday for order, I just got my money back. Zzz.

My car now squeaks, it is much louder when driving, and makes a rubbing sound when accelerating around 30km to 50km. Very unpleasant drive now.

My observation from the techs, they tighten the bolts to much, after using power tool, manual tool was also used for extra tightening. The wheels have increased 32psi to 36.

    New configuration:
Right back was switch to right front as it had more trend
Spare wheel tyre used now as left front

I will give the wheels a clean to see if that helps and then will drop tyres back to 32psi if still having issues.

Only Bob Jane was available that day, I wouldn't have gone otherwise from all the bad reviews etc.
