Help me decide prepaid 12 or 24 month plan

I am looking for a new contract to get a new phone plan as my LG G3 is nearing the end of its life.

Currently on a voda sim from some other deals here, and also have an optus sim to port out after, then back to voda sim the month after that.

Im hoping to get the best deal out there for a galaxy s7 edge, preferably dual sim, as my partner has a whopping 20gb of data she can share as a 2nd sim for me. So data is not a problem at this time.I would prefer 12 month contracts but can do 24 months if the price is right.

Also if there's a better deal out there for a similar spec phone as above, lemme know.

Ive been on whistleout and searching but im not an expert and was hoping the community can spot me the best bang for buck.

Im not a student, not a concession card holder, in my late 20s.

Any input thats helpful is appreciated guys.

If I was you I'd buy a phone outright since you have the data sorted already and then try and get the best prepaid SIM for your national/international talk and SMS needs.

    • Ive been doing the ozbargain.com.au technique of buying sim cards as they go in sale but if there's a good contract deal somewhere I'm willing to go for it for the handset

If you can afford (as you are in late 20s) just get the new phone outright and use $10(optus,telstra,vodafone,amaysim - either one when they are on sale) sim. I am sure it will be cheaper to lock it in the contract for 12 or 24 months

  • Optus has a deal for $50 month for 11gb data and unlimited talk and text also 500mins international call mins.
You can get it on a 12month plan but itsa sim only deal.

I find the data lacking when you bundle handsets into contracts.

See if voda can sell you an s7 but spread the love across 12 months.

    • Based on the other comments I'm leaning towards getting the handset outright. But I'll have to wait and save for it coz I've got bills to pay. As my partner is with optus do you think the optus deal is a better option than voda?

  • I have never been on voda network but I have heared bad things with that I believe thwy are fixing the problems.

Optus for me is fantastic. In my area my work phone with telstra is pathetic.

If I were you id save for an aussie s7 for the optus 4g plus band on the phone.
Or ask them to buy one over a 12 month period if money per month isnt much of an issue.
