How to determine what ARM version for VLC media player?

Hi,

Just went to download VLC for my Pipo T9 tablet. But I have no idea what Arm version it is? It is a Mediatek unit with a Cortex A7. Does that mean it is Arm version 7?

PiPo T9 Tablet 8.9" PiPo T9S Octa Core Tablet PC
8.9" IPS Samsung PLS Screen 10-Point Touch 1920*1200, 254 PPI
MTK6592 Octa Core Cotex-A7
2GB DDR3 RAM 32GB ROM

Cheers all

  • The MTK6592 is an ARMv7 chip.

EDIT: Scrimshaw beat me to it :P

  • Legend lads!

Does this mean the much older Huawei Medipad 7 (old Coles bargain) is an Arm V8?

I Installed the MX Media player on it (and guessed the codecs). Now sound only works via bluetooth headset (speaker and headphone jack dont work).

PLATFORM OS= Android OS, v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
    CPU 1.2 GHz Cortex-A8
MEMORY Card slot microSD, up to 32 GB (dedicated slot)
Internal 8 GB, 1 GB RAM

    • The Cortex A8 is also based on the ARMV7 architecture.

  • OK, thanks. How do you tell what Arm architecture belongs to what cpu?

    • run CPU-z, click on the "System" tab and scroll down to Kernel architecture

      or just look up Wikipedia
