Advice on used Mazda 3 Maxx, is this a good deal?

Hey OzB,

Do you guys/gals think this is a good deal?

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Mazda-3-2014/SSE-…

2014 Mazda 3 Maxx Auto, 24,000 km and asking for $19, 500.

Anybody have an idea to how much the other costs come up to? Stamp duty?

Some friends suggest waiting for the end of financial year, are better deals bound to pop up?

EDIT: Thanks to all those who replied. Decided to wait till EOFY to see if I can score some good deals!

    not a good choice

    it's a damaged / repaired Neo, not a Maxx

this one seems too good to be true….? http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Mazda-3-2014/SSE-… is it a Neo as well?

    this looks clean http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Mazda-3-2014/SSE-…

this would be my pick http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Mazda-3-2014/SSE-…

Looking into the ones you linked, looking into automatics, though.

This has write off status which had a small accident in 2014

Rubbish. You don't write off a brand new car for a "small accident".

The car was originally Neo but I upgraded to higher model

What does this even mean? Did they just replace the screen or something?

OP, this screams dodgy. Stay away!

    • Thanks, looking into others now.

No, get a brand new one for 21k, 2016 model. 23k for MAXX. The car owner mentions that it has a write off history, usually these issues are quite critical or too expensive to fix. Owner probably didn't have a agreed price with his insurance and took matter to his own hands. Plus it gives you a peace of mind.

    • A brand new Maxx is 23K?
I was under the impression it was closer to 27K.

Edit: Ah, was that the price you can beat them down on a manual?

Nope, automatic. Go to a dealer and tell them this is what you want to pay for the car. End of story. They will call you back in a couple of days and give you this or they will try to negotiate.
Do some research before hand. I never like talking to dealers. They use this tactic that makes you feel like you have to buy the car after wasting their time taking you on the test drive.

If they can't do the deal, go somewhere else. Like I say, do your research, see what people are paying for the cars. Find out why its worth that price. Woodenspoon has posted a whirlpool link which was useful.

I bought my car using a company called private fleet. They basically ask you what you want, then you choose a day and they put your request out to tender. Then all the dealerships near you offer the best price and they fight between themselves to get the sale. If you choose a time close to the end of the month they are more prepared to negotiate, I got quite a bargain on my Mazda 3.
