Surface 3 Docking Station $139 @ JB Hi-Fi (50% off)

141

I have been waiting for these to be on sale, ive never seen them reduced before, other than the student discount thing. Microsoft don't make these kind of docking stations any more as they've gone for a more generic style dock for Surfaces. This one still seems pretty good if you had a Surface 3.

  • Seems to be compatible with Surface 4 - which is what I have. I am really thinking about this! Thanks OP for the great deal!

  • $138 HN still pricey for usb hub. I Have the surface 3 and using the generic usb 3.0 hub. Imo it's too bulky and that's why Ms didn't make the dock for surface pro 4.

I was looking at this when I was looking for a dock for my Surface 3, but ended up going with the Toshiba Dynadock. Love it's ability to multi-monitor setup etc.

Have you had any video issues with the Dynadock? Some reviews I've read say that it struggles to cope.

      Thanks.

      • None at all, using it everyday with keyboard, mouse, ethernet, audio connected to the dynadock along with the two monitors and the surface 3. There is a new revised version of the Dynadock btw, which I think was released 6 months or so back.

        That's the one I have:

        • Excellent. Thanks for the quick review.

Daym so this is $278 normal price? Even at $139 I'm not sure if I feel it's worth it..

$1 I guess. Depends, for me JB is much closer, I'd rather save the gas money.

You could probably go to Harvey Norman and get them to price match (no joke hahaha)

There's also a limit of 1 per customer! How are people supposed to get by with only one dock?! ;-)

  • Excuse me I'm going to ramble a bit.

I think this is a hardware dock whereas the SP4 dock is a software solution (AKA "USB dock", despite the fact it has a propriety connector).

Many issues and bad reviews on the SP4 dock. Also many reviews saying the only tangible difference between SP3 and SP4 is slightly better screen (yet more bugs).

I'm kinda thinking of getting this dock, a discounted SP3 and an SP4 type cover.

    • This deal is for the non-Pro Surface 3 dock btw.

      • Yeah. The Surface Pro 3 dock doesn't seem to pop up at many retailers in Australia. I think the main difference is an extra USB 3.0 port and slightly different port locations.
