So a plain muffin is now a deal?

    I must've missed the revised
    OzBargain standards memo…

    • I can buy a six pack at Coles for $2

      • butter and spread? :P

        • In the cupboard or fridge at home.

@diddy50: so now i have to fork our for a house a fridge and a kitchen ??? might as well pay the $1 :P

        • @scud70: it's the privilege we have haha

  • It's a bit plain, but aren't these usually a dollar for breakfast?

    • Nope, I work at Maccas, our refresh this month for cheap crap menu only had this for the month.

      • For what?

        • Rephrase your question.

        • ANZAC special, perhaps?

        • @KaptnKaos: Nah, it's just a regular monthly specials update, you'll soon hear radio ads and see posters in store.

I used to always buy one for a dollar and have marmalade on it. Hadn't bought one for 6 months or so. You saying they are now having them as their cheapie range like the BLT?
(BLT is great, add egg for $1 and you have a great muffin for 3 bucks. Heaps cheaper than a bacon and egg muffin too)

  • wow a piece of toasted bread for $1. What a shit menu item

    • (+ choice of spread)

Sounds like the shit is included for the buck.

I've amended the title since a plain muffin sounds absolutely frugal as a menu item.

Still, compared to what fancy schmancy cafe's are selling buttered toast at, $1 is fairly cheap in comparison.
The cafe I used to frequent charges $3 for two slices of buttered cinnamon toast.

      Cinnamon toast is awesome but.

If this was Turkish bread I might be interested. Can't believe they are spending money on TV ads for this. It like the Mega Budget Breakfast for people who don't own a toaster and have thirty seconds to spare in the morning.

Don't know why everyone's being rude about it. Has been on the menu for as long as I can remember. Thanks OP for the info.

Not everybody goes to McDonalds, so we only hear about this shit in other places.

why not just pay $2 and get the BLT muffin?

    • +1

Because they are a tightarse with no appetite? :)

    • +1

Because you can get two plain muffins for $2

      • TWO pieces of bread without the meat, what a steal /

why not buy a packet and cook at home

So you're saying restaurants shouldn't exist?

  • +1

I don't see how this is a "deal".

$1 is their standard price for the muffin & jam. I've been buying it for ages for this price at my local Maccas.

  • Should take my portable gas stove, a pan and some bacon to a local McDonalds for some fun. Cook meself some bacon to go with it..

Edit: not actually going to do this - I am just joking… though if someone wants to slap on a GoPro and steal my idea, please link the video, would love to see the response of employees.

    • Sounds like a night at the local drive-in…

      • Wonder if I could push it a little and do this in a taxi through the drive through….

        • You probably wouldn't be the first person mugged for cooking bacon, once the staff get a whiff you could be in trouble.

        • @StewBalls:
          Fair point

Worth noting according to the maccas website excludes QLD and NT

  • despite the infidels, we will never forget

  • Everyone complaining about what you get for a dollar these days, ever heard of convenience? Of course it's cheaper to buy the ingredients and make it yourself, but some people are lazy and that's why places like McDonalds exist, sky is blue, water is wet, etc.
