Hello
I am traveling to Sweden for the birth of a grandchild
I have found fares with Singapore
airlines to Copenhagen for about $1860
Also have fare to Gothenburg for $1800. These are the most convenient airports to my daughters home.
I wonder if anybody has seen cheaper fares than this?
My dates are flexable
I have 26th August returning on 9 th October
I also want flights to go for Christmas
Early December to about the 6th January
Thanks in advance
. I am ok with the prices I have found but would hate to find out I have paid too much
Air Fare Sydney to Gothenburg or Copenhagen
Comments
I am happy with any form of travel if I can save money
My daughter lives in Lekeryd near Jonkoping
I will check all of your options
Thank you very much
Rome2rio gives you several options to get to Gothenburg: http://www.rome2rio.com/s/Sydney/Gothenburg
If you try your exact town, it may suggest several ways to get there and you can then gauge which one suits you best. :)Thank you
The cheapest way would probably be getting a return flight to Bangkok with AirAsia/Scoot/Jetstar for $400-500 and then catching a Norwegian flight from BKK to CPH for €490($715) plus baggage.
It is a bit of mucking around for the savings so I wouldn't really bother unless you wanted to have a stopover in Bangkok on the way.
There's a cheap flight on STA Travel for $1236 Aug 26 - Oct 11th flying Thai Air but you'll need to get sign up to TAFE to get your student card before then ;) I've honestly never been asked for a student card though so if you're willing to take a risk you can go for it! Or sign up for a course, get your card and promptly drop out before you have to pay.
If you change your dates slightly you can get it a little cheaper, for instance flying Singapore Aug 26 - Oct 11 is $1,540 via Bestjet.
If they've recommended those cities I am guessing they are on the east coast of Sweden and although the trains are fast it's expensive from Stockholm(Arlanda) airport. The train leaves directly from CPH airport to Sweden, so it's easy to get to anywhere on the rail line and meet them at the station. Last time I went to Halmstad the train from Copenhagen airport to Halmstad was cheaper than from Stockholm airport to Stockholm city… Go figure.
If you want to write a little more what you're after.. eg. how flexible your dates are, if you want to fly certain airlines, have a stopover etc. I'm happy to have more of a look for you.
Thank you so much
Now I have some ideas I will search again
My Daughter lives in Lekeryd a little town near
Jonkoping in the middle of Sweden
I just want a cheap flight. I can sleep anywhere (except on planes)
I can do trains and buses
I am flexable with dates. She is due 18/9 so just thought I would allow 3 weeks either side
Again thank you
I will post when I bookHonestly, I'd just buy the ticket on STA. They never check student details and you can get a flight Aug 29th returning October 10th for $1153 if you use the code STUDENT and it only has a 3 and 2 hour stopovers each way. You won't find better than that and they won't even know to check if you're a student….
If you didn't want to do that the next best option I found is to book separate tickets. One with Scoot on August 28yth to Singapore, it's currently $249 but wait until the next special to get it cheaper and the other through Hello World/Expedia/Kayak for $1091. You should be able to get it for a total of around $1300 and the stopover between tickets in Singapore is 5 hours which should be plenty of time.
Qatar Airways
DEP 02:25 SINGAPORE ARR 12:20 CPH Duration 15h 55m 1 stop (DOH)
DEP 10:50 CPH ARR 18:35 SYDNEY Duration 22h 45m 1 stop (DOH)
I just flew Thai airways to Paris for 990, could check them
I used best jet
Thanks
Will look that upThanks
Went into STA and they told me I had to be a full time student when I booked and when I flew
I think I would worry too much if I tried to buy it so will do the other option
Thanks for your help
I really appreciateI'm guessing this was to me. It's not ideal but still, $1300 will be a decent price return during those months and flight back is a good connection. Unfortunately there isn't any flights from any Asian hubs straight to Gothenburg but it's only 3 hours train ride from CPH airport to Nässjö for $50, and then hopefully someone can drive the the 25km and pick you up from there.
Scoot has specials every Tuesday so just sign up for the newsletter and have a look the next few weeks…
Oh and grattis mormor/farfar!
Yer I would Agree With Zappy32 I think those are your best Options..
Gothenburg is definitely a lot closer then CPH but hey $$ are what count… you can get flights from CPH to Linkoping pretty cheap then jonkoping is only an hour maybe 2 away but the train will most likely be the most cost effective and easiest…
I lived in Linkoping for a semester.. been to jonkoping a few times .. Sweden is an awesome place
ha det bra!!
Hej Hej
We visited Linkoping
Loved it. Stayed at the Faulty Towers Hotel near the station
Did a few day trips
I really appreciate all the help I am getting here
Hej Då
Hello ,
Just an update on my travel.
I have booked and I could be asked to leave ozbargain.
I am flying Singapore Airlines .
I found the flight on BestJet and Flight Centre matched it.
The reason for using flight centre is I had about $150 CC points and my daughter had $800.
I will be giving my daughter the money so that is good for her as there isn't often much value in CCpoints
The flight is quick and stops in Singapore for only 2/3 hours each way.
I will be elagible for the $40 dutyfree shop each way in Singapore
I paid $1563 so that is a couple of 100 cheaper than I was going to pay originally.
Thanks you everybody who tried to steer me in the right direction.
I really apppreciate your help.
Now to book Christmas
Would you consider a flight to Stockholm?

May I ask the town your trying to get to? I have Lived and traveled Sweden a lot might be able to provide a better option..
