Depends on how much you like Fallout 4. If you go on past games, $50 might be ok for the Fallout New Vegas DLCs given their content but yeah… most of us can afford to wait until the very end and see what the 4 chapters actually are.
What is a season pass? Is it DLC that expires?
Why is it called season pass then?
When you buy a season pass for a TV show you get all the episodes in a season, as and when it is released.
If you think of Fallout 4 as the 4th installment, or season, of Fallout then what you are paying for is all the DLCs for that season as and when it is released.
just like those who bought the Evolve season pass only to get shit thrown in their faces when season 2 was announced out of the blue.
I plan to wait 1-2 years and get the GOTY edition for under $30…have a huge backlog of games anyways.

They're more like glorified mods that you're paying for. Their features could've come as part of vanilla.

Skimming that article shows that this is largely bullshit. I dont think you will get a New Vegas style DLC pack. Two mods worth $10 + $5 and then a $25 new area to play…

Agreed. I have the Season Pass but, I kind of feel like they need to bring more in. I don't think they are giving enough to justify even the original price tag for the season pass if they don't bring more in.
Automatron DLC felt like a mod, if it were a mod, I would probably say it's one of the better ones. Few cool gimmicks + short story arc that really feels more like an add on, instead being an extention of the game.
Wasteland Workshop is something that I wouldn't have even bothered getting if I didn't want the mods that possibly use the resources in that DLC. It's not even up to a standard of a good mod in my opinion.
Far Harbour was cool though, if I were to rank Far Harbour against other DLCs from Fallout series, it would go relatively high.
I think it's the same price at JB Hi-Fi (download code printed cardboard), unless I'm wrong.

Yeah old stock was $50. Mine has already run out of old stock, only new stock at the $80 price point.
DLC is getting ridiculously expensive. This and Star Wars Battlefront are ridiculous.
Evolve did/does the same and look where that ended up

Best value DLC was Borderlands 2. There was dozens of hours of additional content included for about $20 IIRC.
When the Pre-sequel came out it was a no-brainer to buy the DLC. What a waste of money that was.
I've been playing a lot of SWBF and would like the season pass but waiting on a 50% off sale for it to be worth it.
very true about BL2. I couldn't stand Pre sequel let alone bother with the DLC :P
Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption was pretty amazing value too, it was essentially an entire new game in the same setting.
I never realised the Season Pass for this a game (and Star Wars) were so expensive. Perhaps it's because I haven't paid much attention to these games since release but I'm truly gobsmacked!
As a gamer, I knew the day would come when a Season pass would be just as expensive, if not more then a retail game but I was really hoping it wouldn't be so soon.
Vote with your feet I say. I just wont buy it at that price.Even if I want a season pass, unless that season pass is giving me MORE than I would expect from the retail price of a game, I wont be buying it.
Bethesda DLC goes on sale fairly regularly. If you're not going to play it immediately, i wouldn't worry too much.
