Is there a huge difference between the Japanese and Chinese made batteries?
chinese eneloops reported to loose charge relatively quicker compared to japanese but is compensated by an increased number of recharge cycle.

What do you base 'increased number of recharge cycle' on? In the cycle testing linked above the Chinese made eneloops survived for far less recharge cycles than the Japanese made cells.
I've yet to see any evidence that Chinese made 'eneloops' are anything more than the old Panasonic LSD NiMH batteries (made at their existing Chinese factories) but with new 'eneloop' branded wrappers.
I was always curious on whether these Japanese ones are actually better than Chinese ones even after considering how old Japanese ones can be.
I've seen someone posting a post from a forum on how Japanese ones are better, but since Japanese ones are likely to be older… It'd be interesting to see.
