Hi Guys,
There's this white mark on my car, I tried washing the car but it wont come off.
It kinda comes off when I scratch it with my finger nails. Is there a better way of removing this mark?

when I scratch it, white powder comes off, and after a while you can see the paint again.
maybe try a slightly abrasive polish, such as SCRATCH X 2.0 (http://www.meguiars.com.au/surface-prep/scratch-x-2-0/)
try some "bug and tar remover" before using anything too abrasive.
I will try it out tonight
buy a jar of finger nails and rub it with that?
where do I locate the supplier for a jar of finger nails?
@kelkel108:
local cemetery?
Keep doing it
Report back when finished for further instructions
Could also try using something like a toothbrush, to remove it gently?? Maybe pour some cleaning liquid or water on there to soften it up as well.
yeh, my toothbrush would work, would it leave scratch marks?
Yes it would leave scratch marks.
For tree sap stains:
Soak a soft rag in mineral spirits and rub the tree sap. Use a gentle pressure to avoid scratching your paintwork with the hard bits of sap that break away. Once you have rubbed the sap thoroughly with mineral spirits, wipe the area with a clean, dry cloth.
it's not really tree sap, it's this white powder and it's sticking to my car real good
Bird poop then

You may need a detailling spray from a car shop.

I would try WD-40
What sort of car is it? It's probably worthless now, I'll take it off your hands so you can get a new one.
If you value your car and your paint, use a clay bar with some detailer spray as lubricant. It'll get anything off the top of the paint without removing/scratching/eating into the paint or finish.
Much safer than playing around with polishes (or any abrasive methods) if you're not used to them.
This ^
I don't see the harm in using a polish to try to get rid of it. I mean you wouldn't let a newbie near a rotary buffer with a heavy cutting compound, but an off-the-shelf cut (e.g. Meguiars ScratchX) applied by hand isn't going to do any damage unless you keep rubbing it in the same spot for a hour (although at least any paint that's left will be swirl free if you did do that lol).
I've actually had good experiences with ScratchX - it's no miracle product but if you apply it to a clean surface with a foam applicator using moderate force for 10 seconds or so you can generally get a lot of the contact (e.g. paint, concrete) off. It'd be my first port of call in this situation anyway.

Probably no harm. Probably. But if you're trying to get something of the top of the paint/finish then there shouldn't be any need to use a polish/cutting compound. Polishes are used to take a tiny layer off the coat to make the finish look better again - sure it'd also remove anything on top of the paint, but that's not the purpose.
A clay bar on the other hand, is made specifically to remove matter from on top of the coat/paint without doing any damage to the paint/coat. It is specifically for the job that OP has at hand.
Want to remove scratches/swirls or shine up a faded finish? Then use polish. Want to remove mater from on top of the paint? Use a clay bar.
Depends how pedantic you are about the finish on your car. If it's an older car and you don't care that much, use whatever works. If you are trying to keep it looking it's best, use the right tool for the right job.
I simply use a clean bucket of car wash as the lubricant.
this is bird poo left for ages.. just use a bit of scratch and polish and it will come off
nah, it's a week old
its made its way through the clear overcoat of the paint. most likely because its acidic poo from fruits. you will also need a wax over this area as it will spread and grow now with rain and is like cancer for car paint.
I don't think it's bird poo, I park it in an underground car park
Is there a better way of removing this mark?
Don't bother, it'll just come back.
Either buy a white car or leave it under a tree for a few months until it becomes white.
Boil a kettle.
Pour over.
Sponge away.
Repeat.
(Bird poo contains acids that may hurt paint when left too long)
yep i left a bird poop on my car for a couple weeks and the paint cracked.
I get crap like this all the time because of work and where I have to park. I can come out and it can be black brown pink white silver green ass shit all over my car. Using boiling water and soap on a rag and just leaving it on there for few minutes seems to be enough for everything ive come across on my car. No clue what you've got there tho.
I have the exact issue! Cause in my case was water dripping onto the car that had passed through the concrete slab above. Tried to remove a couple of times, but it still prevails. Keen for any solutions that work
Bird poo. Get a rag or sponge and saturate it with water. Lay over bird poo and leave for an hour or so. Keep wet. This will dissolve it and it should just wipe off with lots of water. Do not rub as it could scratch. Works well with the more solid bird droppings as well.
Important to remove these as soon as possible as the acid will chew into the paintwork
or have a crack at it after its been raining for a while, or the morning dew is on the car.
Looks like lime scale, google has heaps of answers.
Best to find out what exactly it is before trying to remove it properly
Use a cutting compound. Ask the folk at Supercheap. It is a polish with a very light abrasive particle addded. Used for just this problem. Light scrapes or marks on the surface of the paint/lacquer layers of the car.
