Price wise and considering japan close on new years
Japan on NY Info: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2276.html
It looks like you'll avoid the NY holidays in Japan anyway according to your itinerary.
Japan is dead on new years eve.
Well, maybe book your accommodations now, but I don't think prices for things like meals etc will go up.
Any airline recommendation?
Well you're are in the right place to wait for deals. Also try price tracking sites like Adioso.
should I fly with Cathay? since im transiting in Hong Kong
Btw i doubt it will be any sale since I will be travelling in Dec
@W0rldtraveller: You might be able to find a combo with budget airlines that works out cheaper. But on the other hand if you are short of time, just enjoy CP, it's a good airline. And the cost of accommodation in HK will be high anyway, unless you go for one of the dives in Tsim Sha Tsui or Mongkok.
lol just check 1700 AUD
Ouch.. flight cost will hurt you dearly.. If you depart earlier in December (eg. first week) you'd have a better chance of getting a cheaper ticket
No leave unfortunately lol
im going japan around the same time as you are 17th. perth to japan via singapore airlines $1300 you may want to start looking at accommodation as a lot of the good cheaper options are being snapped up.
Im booking
Sydney - Tokyo 17 December 2016
Osaka - Hong Kong - 26 December 2016
Hong Kong - Sydney 1 January 2017
With Cathay Pasific AUD 1800, is it too expensive?
it is too expensive but its peak season. even 2 separate flights could be cheaper.$800 hk and $400 japan.
last year we did gold coast - tokyo - bangkok - phuket - kuala lumpur - goldcoast
It cost about $2500 for the 5 of us. we flew jetstar and air asia. spent about a mth away and we wanted all those destinations.
If you dont need to rush then you could consider aid asia or scoot.
What concerns do you have? Aside from having to take some warmer clothing.
