rofl! Did anyone see the article on Today Tonight (i think) about how these cheap made products are severly burning people and releasing radiation 32,000 times stronger than a mobile phone onto your skin?

yeah I saw that lastnight, I wonder where this product came from, most probably from dodgy CHINA, check this link abt the TT story, http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com/article/7056739/health/hair…

    • You cant even trust the chicks at the salons to get it right with their $50,000 machines…
I had quite a bit of IPL over a 6 month period and larger areas are often split into sections by drawing grid lines with a white pencil… one day they ran out and decided to use black which was near to hand.. Of course black absorbs all the light… sizzle/crackle goes my skin.. ouchy.. a thin scar results.

I'd believe a dodgy guy from China before i believe TT…. but the general consensus on these "home" laser hair removal devices is that they are useless and dangerous. Causing burns on the skin and leaving hair still there. I've also done some reading on this specific brand and the results are the same.

    Avoid.

Having said that, if you really are interested in this, the price is good.

Just looked it up and the reviews on this are really really poor. NO ONE who's bought it on Amazon, ebay or review websites recommend it. Many claim their skin became scarred or damaged. Scary!

  • Smells dodge…

  • I was after a good in home hair removal machine for my wife and believe it or not I saw every single product (almost!) available.
EPILA also is one of them (which also is sold by other names in different shapes too).
Plain and simple there are only two FDA approved safe light based machines for hair removal. and to make things clear NONE OF THESE CAN CLAIM PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL, instead they are accepted to claim PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION (huge difference)
1- TRIA laser, which uses laser to heat hairs' follicle and deactivate hair production process which will give you about %70 result. (about $600)
2- Silk'n, which uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) by same basic as above with about %40-%50 result. (about $600 and you need to add $50 per lamp cause they are consumable and will die after 750 shot of light)

Note that your skin and hair colour have a lot to do with the ratio of successful hair removal with this machines (or any other light based system)
if you are light skin and dark hair you are the best candidate for them but if you have light hair (e.g. blonde) forget it, you can't use them. because instead of the pigments in hair follicles your skin cells will receive the energy. Same if you have very brown and dark skin.

And finally if you are after a permanent solution the only available method is electrolysis.

And also as far as I remember the cheap system like EPILA were around $100-$120 at the time (2month ago) so I don't know how it is a deal!
