I have bought MSY HDMI cables twice and each time I had to take them back because they were faulty.
agreed
same.
also their DP cables are trash.
their usb 3 extension cables are also dodgy, have a bunch, macs often refuse to connect with this but windows never complains which makes me wonder if the cables are dodgy and windows just doesnt care. in any case those cables are next to useless as they effect speeds.Fully stocked up on HDMI cables when they were $2 each from DSE a year ago and they've been great. But will say this….MSY's CAT6e Cablelist cables are awesome. I know it shouldn't make a difference but when compared to CAT6e's bought from other stores MSY has been consistently producing faster speeds. Weird.
Haven't had great experiences with their HDMI cables (maybe I'm just unlucky). If you choose to buy them, make sure it isn't going to be plugged in/unplugged often as mine have had breaks between the cable and plug (internally). The cablelist Ethernet cables on the other hand I can highly recommend, very thick and durable.
I was in a Dick Smith store earlier this week and HDMI cables was one of the few remaining items.
MSY cat6 cables are cheap and nasty - would never buy again. Also had to return for faults. Probably OK if you plug in and never unplug again…
The cheaper 'partlist' ones, or the 'cablelist' ones. The cablelist ones are a lot thicker and very durable. Partlist ones aren't great (much like the $2 ones you get from eBay).
'Gold plated' is like all those promises that politicians make that they say are "rolled gold". None of them seem to realise that rolled gold means extremely inferior. Just goes to show how rarely they have anything to do with real gold.
Generally cheap HDMI cables are fine, the problem is with the cheap and long cables, the manufacturers use the same gauge wire as the shorter cables and of course it is way underrated for the length.
Had an issue with a longer HDMI from there, but I've had dozens under 5m all work fine.
